Woah I really like this. Assuming they step up the sound insulation on the apartments, this would be a legitimately cool place to live.

I'm glad to see them keeping the original facades at street level... even more glad to see a "Smack" going into the new spot!  BTW: Talk about tongue in cheek humor on this forum (that was an attempt I made at it), where has @titanhog been?  TH, hoping you're well!

Yeah, I'm pretty obsessed with this project.  Definitely in my top three favorites right now.   I had always been worried that the Rock Block's days were numbered... that some enterprising cheapskate developer with zero appreciation for the concept of community, would come  along and level it all so they could put up a Motel 6 or something.  But this then Saint Tony G comes along with this project, and all of a sudden, the Rock Block is effectively preserved for the next generation to enjoy.

I love this project as well. Keeping the old but adding new in the vacant areas around it is perfect in every way! More of this should be done in Nashville for sure! Especially in areas like Music Row where there are tons of historic, or at the very least significant structures that are just bulldozed for some developments that sometimes don’t even look that great IMO. This project and projects like the Merritt Mansion development in WeHo are great examples of how the city should look at developments and how to work around present conditions and structures that are worth doing so.

The Exit/In has been severely damaged by vandals.  Previous tenants Chris and Telishia Cobb claim ignorance/innocence....but I have my doubts.

The venue was intact a little more than a month ago, when the former operators hosted a slew of concerts the week of Thanksgiving.

AJ Capital Partners, a Nashville-based real estate investment firm, closed on the purchase of the music venue in July 2021. The firm paid $6.45 million for the property, which also holds an adjoining bar previously called Hurry Back. They gained access and toured the building on the first business day of 2023.

"Upon entry, we were shocked and disheartened to find both buildings vandalized with significant damage including broken and/or missing fixtures, broken glass, and destroyed utilities and infrastructure," Tim Ryan of AJ Capital said in an emailed statement to The Tennessean.

Exposed pipes and piles of broken liquor bottles were the only things left where the venue's bar once stood. Soda guns hung limp from the wall, the ends of their hoses sawed off. Up the stairs and behind the stage there is a green room, where a floor-to-ceiling mirror is shattered.

Exit/In's outdoor mural is covered by streaks of red paint. Across a wood deck, Hurry Back's signage is also painted over. A broom laid askew on the deck Monday, a trail of red paint behind it.

Representatives from AJ Capital were notified Jan. 8 that the marquee in front of the venue displayed a new message: "Sorry Not Sorry." It is not clear who is responsible for the marquee or if the same person damaged the inside of the building.

Company officials said they will be assessing the monetary damages to the property and will decide on a legal course of action.

"Despite this awful and senseless act of vandalism and destruction, we remain committed to respectfully restoring the venue and faithfully stewarding it for the long haul," Ryan said in the emailed statement. "The Exit/In is Nashville’s Music Forum — her history, legacy and role in this community are nobody’s to own, hijack or destroy. And to that end, we look forward to making more lifelong memories with artists and fans in due time.”
