Not for new roads, I'm sure.

Maybe GRP's fishing expedition is landing something?

Oh @RVABizSenseMike-- anything on the RBS radar screens showing activity southwest of Magnolia Green? image.jpeg.c7f2543de5916092057d63854a37d846.jpeg

Nothing that far west, that's verging on Amelia from the looks of it. I've heard scuttlebutt about gears turning in the Upper Magnolia and Otterdale-360 areas of Chesterfield but nothing concrete.

I doubt we were on LEGO's radar for a relo landing spot for their HQ - given that they've had a satellite office (ops center?) in Boston for years in addition to the HQ campus outside of Hartford. Home field advantage for Boston. Plus direct flights to Denmark.

Not really a lost opportunity for RVA because very likely we weren't even considered.

A small injection of density southwest of Magnolia Green. NY-based developer B2K is planning a 224-unit apartment complex to be called Magnolia Green Apartments just north of 17900 Hull Street Road. Looks like B2K has some big plans for metro RVA. Check out this nugget from Jonathan Spiers' reporting in today's RBS:

In announcing the new company last November, principal Jon Weiss said in a release that B2K has about 2,000 multifamily units “in contract and in the midst of an approval process” in Richmond, where company chairman Jan Burman said B2K’s partners have owned industrial and office buildings.

Wonder if this is connected to the stretch of land being cleared southwest of Magnolia Green?

This is “breaking news?!”  Good, let’s put your money where you mouth is - I don’t see any announcements for any semiconductors!  Funny how they can say that Henrico is in the “Top Spot for semiconductor manufacturing” without there being one here or anyone running to Henrico to build a semiconductor…that we know of:

Seems more like "marketing news" - but I like the way they tout all the pluses of bringing a semiconductor business to Henrico. Even if they kinda gild the lily just a bit in punching WAY above our weight. I like it!

Some residential density coming to Midlothian Turnpike near Robious Road. Sauer Properties - who have projects going in "midtown" (the Sauer Center development), Carytown and near Virginia Center Commons in the northern suburbs is now looking to redevelop the former Stein Mart Festival shopping center property in the 9700 block of Midlo. On tap are up to 350 apartments in three four-story buildings, plus green space and some renovation to remaining retail space.

UPDATE -- The Chesterfield Board of Supervisors voted to approve Sauer's rezoning request, green-lighting the project that will add 350 apartments to the former Stain Mart Festival shopping center on Midlothian Turnpike near Robious. Road. One head-scratcher though: no timetable has been set yet for the start of construction - and apparently the timetable is dependent on how long the Marshalls store at the shopping center wants to continue its renewable least. Here's hoping that Sauer caps that so the project doesn't get interminably delayed.

Federal funding legislation could include $2 million to go toward the Better Housing Coalition's proposed income-based housing development near Henrico's Eastern Government Center according to reporting in today's RBS. Senators Tim Kaine (former RVA mayor and Virginia governor) and Mark Warner proposed the funding awards for various projects around the Commonwealth. Very much hoping this legislation passes - projects like these are desperately needed, and while 106 units is only a small portion of what's needed, it's a good start.

The Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors this week approved a $25.1 million contract with Wagman Heavy Civil to construct a 0.8-mile extension of Nash Road between Beach and Iron Bridge roads. Construction is set to start this fall with an anticipated completion of spring 2026.
