Just drove by this, it's really coming together nicely.  Might have a little scrambling to do before this weekend, but otherwise the park looks great!

Just curious, after sod is put down, is there a certain amount of time it needs to settle before being used?  Will people being on it this weekend be an issue if it's being laid today?

They installed the sod on the larger oval today.  Sprinklers are going full blast.  I stand corrected--it will open on time.  Good job!

I'll say this, if the lower portion is closed off then I will not consider the park finished. To me finished means usable.

Bearden may have mismeasured their sod requirements....it looks a little short.  Also, can't help but to notice that CK is putting up weatherproofing already on the SouthMint Apartments complex in the background!

I'm wondering about that stage-shaped section in Big Moon Green. Will that be a permanent elevated stage that they have some more work to do on? I just don't remember it in any site plans/renderings.

It's not Millenium Park, but still pretty cool... I like the idea of the stage there in the Big Moon green. 

 

FWIW - You can see they are putting up the light trusses in right field behind the foul line for BB&T ballpark in grodney's first photo in his last post.

Very cool. It wasn't in the original plan but I think its a fantastic addition and a good anchor for that more open side of the park. In fact I think all the changes between that plan and the end result, aside from maybe cutting some pavers out of the outer sidewalk areas, were good moves.

I'm excited about this wrapping up.  But boy, it's going to be a while before you can really enjoy the shade of a tree or feel any sort of seclusion from the city there.  It'll be beautiful in about 10 years though.

I love those pillars that light up! They almost remind me of the metro signs in DC, but way cooler. CATS should use these! Thanks for the pics!
