  1. So are they going in the same space?
  2. What in the world? Some of those giant tanks are $1?!?!?!! Do they have to honor the final prices?
  3. Dumb question.....why are so many apartment buildings 5ish stories? Is it a code thing or construction thing or something else? And if they go higher, is there a next height that is common for similar or other reasons? Thanks!
  4. Can you all help me find a site plan for this? The sign says Camden Blakeney. It's at Ardrey Kell Rd and Wade Ardrey Rd. My Google skills are failing me. Thanks.
  5. Interestingly(?), Midnight Mulligan was the most recent True Charlotte Brewery (first category below) to open.....and that was over 2 years ago. I think my list is mostly up-to-date now.......although somebody told me that Weathered Souls hasn't ever brewed here.....not sure if that's true. But as above, they're not sticking around long anyway.
  6. Thanks. There's already a bunch out-of-date.....and reddit helped me clarify a few others. I'll post an updated list sometime soon. Speaking of which, I see Midnight Mulligan is officially gone now......but Weathered Souls appears to still be very much alive? What happened at Midnight Mulligan? Crappy beer isn't enough to turn away the hordes. They had a great place with their own parking.....in a booming area. Maybe not booming enough? Didn't use social media enough? I'm curious if anybody has more scoop.
  7. We went to Blue Blaze on Saturday......holy hell that area has boomed! There are apartments under construction everywhere (including across the street from Blue Blaze), office/retail buildings everywhere, nice landscaping/sidewalk/greenway next to the brewery, and the mill is looking great. I don't know anything about what's going in there or when, but it looks nice all cleaned up. I know there was some news about Blue Blaze rent going up 5x or whatever, but I haven't heard anything since. Anyway, this boom has to be what they were dreaming of when they first got that space long ago.......it just took longer than they wanted/hoped, I'm sure. By the way, their Doppelbock and Scotch Ale were awesome. I wish all their beer was that good, hahahaha. Also went to Town (Hazy) and Birdsong (ESB).....after starting the day at Pinky's. Had a Red Oak with lunch, like it was 2002 all over again. That beer is pretty terrible for $6/pint. Crazy how things have changed.
  8. Hate to follow and possibly draw attention away from the quality rant above, but what is this re-zoning for, and why does it require re-zoning? In laymen's terms. I mean I can read the rezoning docs, but I don't get it. Thanks! https://www.charlottenc.gov/Growth-and-Development/Planning-and-Development/Rezoning/2023/2023-129
  9. End-of-year Brewery List preview before I publish to reddit. Any corrections welcomed!!! Question: Labaratory (see above) Coming soon: OMB Ballantyne, etc. Suffolk Punch Birkdale. Saucy Brew Works. Hippin Hops (see above). Another Brewery.
  10. So is Hippin Hops open yet in that D9 space? We're running out of "December". Also, anybody been to "Labaratory"? They SUPPOSEDLY brew BEER (in addition to soju)? https://charlotte.axios.com/315931/owners-of-seoul-food-meat-co-to-open-a-new-brewery-and-soju-distillery-in-2023/
  11. Anybody know anything about Alongside Brewing? https://www.instagram.com/alongsidebrewing/ Same space the arcade was in? Same owner as Ass Clown?
  12. Look at these crazy directions to White Duck Taco. Apparently, Google Maps thinks that 10th St has a median(?)......so you aren't "there" yet when you're northbound, and you have to loop back around to southbound. We actually drove this last night because we didn't know where we were going, hahaha. And of course we ended up parking around the corner on Seigle, so we could have just gone straight through that light at Seigle and 10th anyway. Guess I should have researched that a bit in advance.
  13. My view from the 28th floor of the new Duke building......I guess that's as high as it's going?
  14. Random news from Latta Arcade.....Fujiyama is closed as-of yesterday.......the pizza place (Pie in the Sky) is moving outside to Brevard Court as-of Oct 1......there's a new-ish hot dog place called "Hot Dogs", at least according the vinyl signs they have hung up behind the counter and in the window. Fujiyama seemed busy the few times I've walked through this year. The Pizza place does a banging business......I wonder which space they're moving into.
  15. So I guess Panzu* Brewery in Mint Hill is open now. According to the facebook and the instagram. Edit: I guess they don't have their own beer yet, according to google reviews. *There's a thingy on the "u".
  16. Well, it's the restaurant plus brewery, and prettymuch all the demerits are food-related, but yeah, El Toro Bruto / Resident Culture got: 97 - Feb 2023 93.5 - Apr 2023 88 - Jul 2023 88.5 - Aug 2023 90.5 - Sep 2023 https://public.cdpehs.com/NCENVPBL/INSPECTION/ShowESTABLISHMENTPage.aspx?ESTABLISHMENT=250021&esttst_cty=60 CBJ is paywalled, but from what I can see, 18 out of 1125 scored below a 90 in August.
  17. How can K9 Playland have "towing enforced" ownership of the street parking here? Are they just putting up signs to discourage people from parking there? Or is this somehow legit?
  18. Is the new place the same thing they've been planning since 2018? Or same location sorta? See last paragraph here: https://charlotte.axios.com/145481/protagonist-clubhouse-brewery-taproom-noda/
  19. Hippin Hops isn't open yet, right? And LOLers at listing Jekyll and Hyde locations.
  20. Check out this awesome beetle at our farm!
  21. Wait, Suffolk Punch switched to this model? Oh my god that sounds glorious!
  22. I thought this "coming soon" was dead: https://www.instagram.com/panzubrewerync/?hl=en I guess not. Maybe. Edit: That's great news about Heist.....I had no idea they switched to food runners......I might actually go there sometime.
  23. Thanks for the thoughts and info! HopFly is definitely a strange/different case. They weren't born here, so they aren't the SAME, but I definitely get the logic of calling them a true Charlotte Brewery. I guess I'll make yet another category......Breweries That Weren't Born In Charlotte But Are Now 100% Charlotte. hahahahahahaaaaaaa The logic that says Salud isn't a brewery is: They don't own brewing equipment.....or even if they own it, it's not at any site of theirs. Kinda hard to be a "brewery" if you don't own equipment. And either way, they are different, without any question. You are welcome to include them as a brewery on your list. Sycamore is now really weird to classify. Clearly they're an OG Charlotte Brewery. but their only publicly accessible place doesn't brew any beer there. That's different than everybody else now. Their 2 locations are represented on my list, but they're definitely different. Still not sure what, if anything, to do about it. For now......nothing. So yeah, HopFly, Salud, and Sycamore are all exceptions for one reason or another. Maybe I'll just splash them all into the top category. I don't know. I forgot about Frothy Beard.....thanks for the reminder!
  24. Here's my list of "Charlotte Breweries"......I would appreciate help updating anything I've missed! (I added my personal numbers on the left....since I just posted about getting 25/25 of the top category.....now at 38/63 total.) I actually don't know if I classified Monday Night correctly, as I don't know if they brew here. Whatever.....let me know. My "coming soon" list is: OMB Cornelius (is this dead?), OMB Ballantyne, Hippin Hops, and Saucy Brew Works.
