Thank you Bic for the renderings. It's really a big project. I wish they would name it mid-town though instead of uptown. I think most people think of uptown starting North of Colonial.

If you build it I guess you can call it whatever you want though.

That whole name thing is pretty weird. This pretty much eliminates any chance of ever defining a midtown.

The name could change. That strip of Orange Ave is 'north' orange ave - e.g. the Bank of America building is 390 North Orange.

My guess is that we'll be reffering to it as XXX [insert tenant here] building/plaza/commons or whatever

I can see where they'd want to avoid 'Midtown'. I mean, it's only a ten-minute walk from downtown to Uptown. Now maybe Uptown should be Midtown, with the hospital node being the new Uptown.

I attempted to model this new rendering in Google Earth, estimating the heights and basing everything off of the renderings found in this thread just to try and get an idea of how this development will interact with the rest of the downtown skyline. Here are some screen shots:

Minus the building with the cube and its 45-degree orientation to the streets, this rendering makes the old Pizzuti design look a lot like PBLT's newest proposal.

Does anyone know if Arquitectonica designed Miami's new Federal Courthouse? There are quite a few similar features in the PBLT proposal, such as the vertical side windows.

You know, I don't see what the big deal about that cube was all about--it was no more radical than Dynetech and some of these other proposals. Its funny what a difference 7 years can make.

Dynetech doesn't look "radical" anymore... now it's just there.

I don't think its just there. Its a lot of glass, either way it will stand out. I guess it just depends on whether or not you want something tacky or something mundane. Personally, I think they should scrap the whole design.

I dont think the name North Uptown will be kept for a long time, it will change when the "big tenant" is announced. I am guessing something in the line of Microsoft Center or Xbox Center....
