  1. This random report says it broke ground. Guessing it’s incorrect. https://www.multihousingnews.com/lincoln-property-co-breaks-ground-on-orlando-mixed-use-project/
  2. well…(joking of course) This was an FAA issue then apparently small issue of no funding. Although this is significant because if I recall this was designed by ARQUITECTONICA
  3. Yeah, not the most inspiring but at this point much better than a fenced in parking lot. This has gone on so long that expectations are pretty low and easy to exceed. If it happens just adding to the dynamic on the street will be nice.
  4. Another article from yimby on how groundbreaking could be soon. I may be delusional but I’m feeling a glimmer of hope here with the all star game bid in play as well. https://floridayimby.com/2023/05/orlandos-8-4-acre-sports-and-entertainment-district-set-to-break-ground-soon.html Is this rendering newer and different? If this and the Edge were to both somehow start this fall it would make for a very active area.
  5. Well I agree with a bit of this but Pat does have quite a bit of history as a sports Exec with the Phillies organization and then the Sixers before successfully launching a new NBA franchise in Orlando.. He may have more cache and connections than you may think.
  6. Found this in OBJ re Amway Center ask. They are preparing a bid for 2027 NBA all star game and have asked for the following $256 million for the Amway Center to "keep the [facility] competitive among its best-in-class peers." The plan includes upgrades to fire protections, technology, vertical transportation, interior and exterior finishes and more. The application states the facility was considered the "most technologically-advanced venue when it opened, but numerous advances have outpaced our capabilities." The project would begin in 2024, but no completion date was included. And yes, the atrium is terrible with some leaks but also just some cleaning is needed on the high beams you see as you go up the escalator. Like just get a crew in a high reach to dust once a year!
  7. So far the only detail I can see I the amount: $256 million to renovate Amway Center
  8. Were you able to see details of the requests? Wondering since I saw a significant amount for Amway Center renovations and was curious what that included.
  9. Made a visit to Lake Eola yesterday and it really struck me what a nice cluster the Vue/courthouse/First FA (what do we call this thing) is really developing into. I appreciate when the skyline develops into layers of buildings from certain views.
  10. Here is what I think may be a slightly different rendering perspectiv. Really looks like a single complex here.
  11. Sorry if this has been stated for sure, but do we have confirmation this will be in the 400 foot club? I think I had seen 400’ exactly thrown around but not sure it felt official.
  12. So is the white pyramid the final look? It looks unfinished and not a fan if that’s the final product.
  13. Yeah that’s wrong. I’m pretty sure that part being demolished was built in the 90s soon after I moved here. I think the 1901 date may be the Bumby Arcade portion.
  14. Was the original Magic bashing post intended for the Magic Entertainment Complex thread? I also will say this is just how professional sports teams are realistically. How many franchises really operate consistently over at a championship level? Only a handful in each sport really. There are probably 20 or so other NBA franchises mired in mediocrity without even the success this ownership team has had. Off the top of my head I’m just thinking of teams in DC, Charlotte, and Atlanta. The exception really is when a team pokes their head into success that’s not part of the normal circle like Sacramento is doing this year. I recently have listened to a few national nba analysts (Zach Lowe, Ryan Rusillo, Bill Simmons)that actually say Orlando has one of the more promising roster situations in the upcoming years so I find it misinformed to say anyone that is NBA literate know them as an nba farm team with horrible management. I mean they recently fleeced the Chicago Bulls in one of the most lopsided trades in the past 10 years. As far as having a stake in the game, well I’m a Magic fan who drives downtown dozens of nights a year to spend money and support a local product. I would actually think that having that stake in the game is what cities need, no? Now as far as developing that lot across from Amway Center. Yep, pretty crappy job obviously so far.
  15. Where did this come from? I don’t understand this take. I’m a Magic season ticket holder and they continue to draw well despite not having some good years as of late. Game nights down there have a nice energy drawing people from surrounding areas. Meanwhile as much as I enjoyed a Rays game last year there were maybe 5,000 people in attendance in a really bad facility. hope this doesn’t hijack this thread with all the Magic haters on this forum. The connection to this thread I can make is when I head down to games is my opportunity to look for movement on demo of the site for Edge tower.
  16. Yep, was most curious on an update on CSP2/Edge. Hoping that one has more traction.
  17. Personally I like it. I like to think of it as a nod to the big empty cube on top of Orlando City Center proposal for that lot.
  18. Sharing what I thought was a little different angle.
  19. Wasn’t there a rumor on here about the potential of the Wilf’s joining in on the project? Pretty deep pockets that could make it happen immediately no?
  20. Yeah, opened the article excited for some actual news and was pretty underwhelmed. In related news I hope to win the lottery sometime next year as well.
