Nah. This faces the backside of Camden Gallery. Sauceman corner will be residential, hotel and maybe more office.

Are you sure? Their website says 

"The Square, a ten-story mixed-use development is coming to the corner of S. Tryon Street and West Boulevard. The property will consist of 150,000 SF of office and 10,000 SF of retail, apartment units and a large outdoor plaza. The plaza connects West Boulevard to the future Wilmore Centennial Park."

Which is where Sauceman's is. Not sure where they can fit another tower in this space. Tryon and West would still have Hawkins surrounding it.

I'm 100,000% sure. I've talked to Beacon and David Furman about this project. I know it very well. Here is the site plan for proof. I'll let Beacon know their website is wrong. The building on the right is the office tower.

Beacons website says completion by Dec 2020 but I think that’s no longer possible.  I’d estimate completion of the office building by May-July 2021 if they break ground between Now and October 2019.  If they break ground too much later than that it’d be hard to keep a May-July 2021 opening.

I'm not crazy about top-heavy buildings and this one feels top-heavy to me. Great building for the area though. South End keeps on rolling.

Charlotte Agenda has a couple more details on their instagram today: 10 stories, 150k of office, 8k of street-level retail with a 5k rooftop restaurant plus (or maybe including? the wording is unclear) a 2.5k rooftop patio facing uptown. Also says it includes apartments and "Wilmore Centennial Park," a 1.5-acre grass space at S. Tryon and Kingston. Still says completion in Q4 2020.

They put the taller side further from single family housing. We are talking 160 feet vs probably 90. Probably wouldn't get approved if it were the other way around.

Dang that's true. Very frustrating however. In what world should we accommodating dated single family on our main thoroughfare in our hottest submarket?

Someone built a new single family home on S Tryon across from this proposed park very recently.  I think South Tryon is good dividing line from lower density to the higher density across the street.  In Houston this would be a non issue with their lack of zoning. I have seen single family homes backing up to a 40 story tower! People however there will fight a high rise if it casts big shadows on their neighborhood though.

Can you imagine the fight this building would have received if near other neighborhoods? The Wilmore neighborhood (with it's dated historic single family homes) hasn't fought these new towers popping up close by.

Overall, this tower looks great. I just wish the parking garage was smaller and am hopeful David Furman does a good job screening the deck on the S Tryon side. The deck screening looks non-existent on the Rail Yard project (maybe just not shown in renderings?).

Anyone know if that is the final design of the apartment aspect of the project?

Looks like only 60 feet of the deck will even be exposed, so that's good.

Construction fencing partially up at Wilmore Square. There are four 1930s Wilmore homes that won’t be around much longer. This will leave the small white home across the street and next to Carolina Foods as the last remaining  Wilmore home in this area of South End.

I’m sure there’s some amazing lumber in those homes. Also sure it will end up in a dumpster. Agghhh.
