Friday?  wow.  UF has two road games in a row and one day less to prepare.  I think FSU has improved over the course of the season a lot more than UF has....

Yes, Friday...our son in law is a Gator fan so at least one in our group will be rooting for them. ;) For the Seminole fans among us the drive home definitely seems shorter after a win. LOL

similar situation here.

the trash talk used to be so much more...zestful...back when Bobby, Steve, and Mickey were all on the field coaching their squads.  Now, it's just like...oh...ok...

Dore-vember...they say...

Well, now Vandy's goal of a 6-win regular season is alive b/c they beat a hapless bunch of Gayterz on Saturday.  Tennessee lost their QB with a torn ACL.  Vandy has a shot next week to win their 6th game.

UF is a weird squad this year.  They clocked the Cocks 38-6, the Cocks hung 63 on Da Vawls, and UF loses at Vandy.  I think they were trying to win using the pass to get AR more reps...in preparation for the FSU game.  Meanwhile, FSU seems to be rolling.

TCU won a close one; Michigan won a close one.  Likely, the No.1 -4 teams will be UGA, TOSU, Mich, TCU, and No.5 will be LSU now that UT has hung it up for the season (much like UF did in 2015 when Grier was suspended).

Does a 2-loss LSU team get into The CFP if they upset UGA?

The ‘Noles beat the Gators 45 - 38 last night.

It was a good game. The Gator in our group said at least it wasn't a blow out. The rivalry games seem to bring out the worst in the fans though and that got real old real fast. There was the FSU fan behind my daughter who was indignant that the UF band performed the National Anthem pregame with the FSU band (a long time tradition) and her companion who every time a UF player was maybe injured on the field kept yelling "get that piece of dead meat off the field". :tw_rage:

We've been going to home games since 2007 and have never seen the crowd rush the field like they did last night. They looked like lemmings going over the cliff. Deputies were posted at the goalposts to make sure no one climbed up on them.  I heard an estimate of 40,000 fans on the field. No thanks. It was hard enough being in the stands with 75K of my closest friends.

We rolled back into Orlando around 5 this morning.

I missed the game.  was on the west coast and on the road Friday night.  was near Sarasota and most people there that had their colors on had FSU gear on.

I get the whole running QB thing.  I just don't know if I agree with the notion of starting a guy that can run and throw hard...but is not accurate consistently.  I watched Matthews in the Morning and Shane was like, under SOS, the QB in no matter which year, was the same guy, in that, if you can't throw certain routes, etc., then you get benched.

Having AR is bad. he should go pro, otherwise UF will be too reliant on his bad play and excuse making.  At least with Kitna, Miller III, Other QB Recruit, and maybe Rashada in '23, they can bench a guy that's not playing up to snuff w/o too much pushback from whomever influences the program.  AR is also not Napier's recruit.  Maybe the mere fact that he did not transfer makes him Napier's recruit...dunno...

But this is getting old.  The defense is the defense.  But the offense needs to be consistent otherwise an errant play gives the other team momentum.  By errant, I mean a 3rd & 4 where a WR either drops a pass or can't get to it b/c of a bad throw.  That is unacceptable.  Ever since they changed the game clock in the past, what, ten to fifteen years it has shortened the game drastically.  And as a result you have to make the most of ever series that you have the ball.

UCF is having a huge debate right now about the running vs passing QB (Gus very much prefers the former), but which one you use depends on who you’re playing against unless you just totally outclass the other side.

I think it needs to be a passing QB.  Otherwise, you end up with the likes of AR or Rattler or any other one of these inconsistent QB's that can hand it off to a good RB but can't complete a simple pass to keep the drive alive.

I remember Chris Leak.  Even as a freshman, he was making plays with his arm.  He didn't like taking hits though.  But, he made the plays and in a four year period he was like the Gators' all time leading passer (I think).

What have the running QB's ever done (sans Tebow)?  Nothing to write home about.   Trey Burton could pass to save his life but was a great Wildcat QB.  Murphy was ok; Driskel (at UF) was just ok. I'm not sure what Franks was considered, but I think he was a running QB with an arm- oh yes...like AR...  And what happened to him?  He transferred like a punk when he saw how good Trask was when he came in as a pure passer.  And once Trask left, we downgraded to Emory (a great runner) and AR (a decent runner who won't run).

So, I would go with the passer, because, a passer can always dump it off to a RB who can then take it the distance.  But if a running QB can't even do that, then what good is he?

Never have a school and a coach been so deserving of each other as Auburn and Hugh Freeze. Hugh makes Urban Liar look like the choirboy he once pretended to be when he had Tebow for cover.

um...I can't say that I disagree all that much there...

If the Knights lose to Tulane Saturday, USA Today predicts our bowl opponent will be…. the Gators!

And to think the folks in Hogtown just can’t stand the idea of a 1-and-1 with us <eg>…

And UCF should win that one.  If the last two games for UF are any indicator of cohesiveness, the penalty yards they racked up vs Vandy and FSU should yield UCF at least 10pts...and AR's inconsistent play should yield UCF another handful of possessions in the game.  So, if they played, I would predict UCF 37-31.  Until UF shows me something different...

it's funny, really, when SOS came to UF in 1990, UF lost badly in games in 1990, 1991, 1992.  In 1993, they got punked at Auburn.  But, in 1994, they blitzed UT on the road and were blitzing FSU on the road (for the first time under SOS) until they choked at Doak.

My point? It took SOS the 4th season to not get blown out in a loss, and it took UF the 5th season to win big on the road vs rivals.    Meyer's squads still lost on the road, but in close losses, except in 2005 (Year 1) and in 2010 (Year Last).

Napier made some strides in Year 1.  He still had some more players leave the team in the past few weeks.  Next season's roster should be much cleaner.

Have you seen the commercial where the HBC is teaching Tebow how to drive a Nissan SUV? I thought it was interesting they paired those two instead of Urban and Tebow…

no, I missed it...

Urbster just wacked himself out a little too much in Jax.  They said he had a physical medical issue; I think it was more mental health related- no BS.  Maybe he needed to toke it up with his players more...

Both Heisman's. Hence Heisman house sponsored by Nissan. (That's a 6-speed  prototype non-production, you can see it this weekend at the OCC.)

The Central Florida Auto Show is usually at OCCC this time of year.

When I was a kid, it used to be in the parking lot of Parkwood Plaza and my buds and I would walk over every day to check out the new cars after school. They built a stage and had a little ice show and I got picked to come up and do a little routine with the comedian. The highlight of my young life!

This was in the mid ‘60’s as the Mustang and the muscle cars were peaking in popularity and I became a Pontiac fan for life. Hey, the wide-track people built EXCITEMENT!

Then, over to JMFields for an ice cream cone…

Just don't go there hungry... Sodexo food workers at Orange County Convention Center may strike

https://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/news/2022/11/29/orange-county-convention-center-workers-strike.html

"Sodexo partners with large convention centers to operate catering and other food service needs. The company hires dishwashers, cooks, banquet servers, cashiers and more to help run conventions centers such as the one in Orange County. ..If they do, it will be the first tourism industry strike in over 20 years."

Maxwell does have a good point. Sodexo is taking the heat but they are under contract with the County. What ever wage increased Sodexo agrees to will have to be offset with a modified contract with the County.

‘From David Whitley of the Gainesville Sun: “Kudos to the Pitt Panthers. In beating Miami at Hard Rock Stadium Saturday night, they set an ACC record when they had more points (42) than their opponent had fans (37, not counting the two guys selling hot dogs).” ’

Are the ‘Canes the most overrated team on the planet? Enquiring minds want to know…

It appears the Little Old Lady from Pasadena got over her attitude, which will allow the 12-team CFP to begin in 2024:

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/35152132/rose-bowl-agrees-amended-deal-paving-way-early-cfp-expansion

From ESPN

One of the main reasons Division 1-A (FBS) football is about the only major sport without a playoff is because the bowls blocked one.

The Rose Bowl, the grandmama of them all, was a YUGE part of that. What everyone has known forever, that the games are more important than the bowl sites, is finally on its way to American college football’s top tier.
