I feel like this project is like the Protogroup project in Daytona- a two tower project where they got off to a fast start...then a slow down...the first tower got finished...eventually opened...and, the second tower only has the foundation done...

This should be unacceptable. That is atrocious. Gotta wonder what is going on at City Hall — this isn’t an out of the way location.

Baker Boring design something interesting challenge (impossible)

The firm designed buildings back in the late 90s that were passable.

Not only do I hope they get the 2nd tower started ASAP, I also hope they repaint the whole thing a different color while they're at it. The black is hideous & completely out-of-place in Florida.

Not black. Dark gray.

There is probably just about a 0% chance of that (repainting) happening.

I kinda like it myself.

Nice change of pace from the same old crap we've been getting.

at the risk of sounding confusingly risque, I like 'em big and black, like Big John.

Oh, behave....

I can't help it...LOL.

that being said, I also am a fan of Society's color scheme (and Rothman's parking deck).  Personally, I've just had enough of light tan and beige and the whole notion of Florida being allergic to brick.

I understand the notion of black or dark grey buildings and whether they belong in Florida.  I know people will tell me to get my a55 back to Chicago if I don't like it, and that's a fair point, but, I just wish more of those style buildings were down here.  They just seem more professional and "serious," like the Hon. Richard J. Daley Plaza below:

I agree it's "cold," but I could camp out there all day just gazing at it and that wacked out Picasso sculpture.  I'm weird like that.

Thrive appears to be an anticipated tenant.  Seems pretty tucked away from Orange Ave compared to their current location.

it appears it is a new concept from the owners of Thrive.  Its off of Society’s lobby and isn’t replacing their other location.

Don’t know much more than that.

That seems tiny. I wonder if they would use that size and location as a benefit for something like a speakeasy. I've been impressed with Thrive so far.

I predict that they'll give Fire Command Room and Emergency Switchgear Generator Room a run for their money.
