^Just as long as it isn't "Gaudí".

I kinda like this (Singer House in St. Petersburg, Russia):

lol, well Gaudi's dead, so I don't think you have to worry about that. Not that I mind his...unique style. But that's Barcelona.

I have always liked Art Nouveau's use of asymmetry and non-geometric shapes.

I doubt we are going to get much information on the designs of the inner-workings of this hotel, based on what I just read about the Chicago hotel.

"Throughout the process, the Virgin team has done their very best to keep details of the interior design and layout under tight control, offering little pieces of information on the occasion via their promotional videos and guerilla marketing effort."

Warning controversial statement coming!

ok you have been warned.

Friday night I was driving to meet some friends for dinner at Soulshine. while sitting at the light at division to take the weird turn to continue down Division, I had a thought.

"man this is a nice view, maybe they should just turn this corner into a park and preserve this view."

wont happen obviously, and I hate that that house was lost. but there really is a great view of midtown right there.

ok commence the hate.

I like the idea of pockets parks, even more when there is a view to be had... but personally not at major intersections. That intersection already is a cluster of streets coming together, and thus crying out for a landmark to define the corner there much better.  I agree about the house and have wondered if the inside had been preserved.  That would not have disqualified it for rehabbing in my mind because I remember when Margaret Mitchell's "Dump" was a true dump before it was restored.  Of course, now that it is gone the greatest tragedy would be if nothing is built there.
