I'm glad to see that corner get an upgrade from "Discount Tobacco and Liquor."  That corner will hopefully serve to connect 12South to Edgehill over the next couple years.  There's something about that store and the blank wall that was the clinic that just made that immediate area unfriendly to pedestrians. With the recently completed Wade Ave row homes, the townhomes/rowhomes planned across 12th Ave from the Midtown Hills Precinct and the developments happening immediately south of Wedgewood on 12th Ave this should made this area much more friendly to pedestrians.

From Nashville Post on Broadstone 8 South (former Colonial Bakery site):

Phoenix-based Alliance Residential Company announced today it has broken ground on Broadstone 8 South, a high-end apartment building to be located on the street from which it takes its name.

Of note, one of the site several courtyards will double as an outdoor movie theater for residents, according to a release. Broadstone 8 South will also feature an indoor electronic golf range.

According to the release, the building’s street-level space will be open with “large windows and several nooks for hanging out and people watching.” The project will also have a clubhouse, a private dog park, a bike program, a resort-style pool with a lounge deck and an outdoor pavilion with grilling areas.

“[We are] thrilled to be underway on Broadstone 8 South, a site perhaps best known as the former Colonial Bakery,” Andrew Steffens, Alliance Residential development director, said in the release. “We are creating a project that will compliment the neighborhood while delivering a luxury product that will draw the next generation of city movers.”

Late last year, Alliance Residential started construction on Broadstone Germantown, a 276-unit apartment building scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2016.

..Sounds as if that's going to end up putting a load on Whitsett Road, though, resulting in yet another disjoint in the traffic-light continuum near Thomson Ln and Nolensvlle Rd.  (So like, what's new?)  Otherwise, it's a great shot-in-the-arm for that part of Woodbine, which has been a bit stagnant, since the newish MNP Library branch was done nearby, some 8 or so years back. -==-

From today's Nashville Post:

THDA to provide $500K for apartment project

The Tennessee Development and Housing Agency announced today it will provide $500,000 to help Urban Housing Solutions develop a second apartment complex in Chestnut Hill and targeting Nashvillians with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

With the THDA grant and another $700,000 in additional funding, Urban Housing Solutions hope to take some existing structures within the South Nashville district and reinvent them into a 19-unit apartment complex where individuals with IDD and divinity graduate students can live side by side, according to a release.

The project is to be called Chestnut Commons and will be paired with Urban Housing Solutions’ 12 Garden Street.

“Urban Housing Solutions is taking on a very difficult challenge with such enthusiasm, and creativity, and success that the entire state should take notice of what’s happening here,” THDA Executive Director Ralph M. Perrey said in the release.

Funding for the $500,000 grant comes from the Housing Trust Fund, which the THDA Board of Directors created to provide financial support for innovative and affordable initiatives targeting the housing needs of Tennessee’s most vulnerable residents.

The Housing Trust Fund receives no tax dollars but, instead, is fueled by revenue from THDA’s Great Choice home loan program. HTF grants are awarded through a competitive application process.

Core Development planning residential/mixed use on Herron Dr. Development moving south of the fairgrounds into the industrial area around Trevecca.

Metro needs to connect Wedgewood with Fesslers and improve connectivity in this area to further stimulate growth.

This location is a big gamble as it is not connected to anything. RR tracks on two sides, no side walks, not even a desirable walk to anywhere, not to mention riding a bike.

if I were buying, the price better be really cheap asI would not even consider the location what is a industrial park.

May be a nice view, but that would be it.

I think this industrial area has strong long term development potential being so close to downtown. Many "urban nodes" could pop up south of the fairgrounds near Trevecca and many of the industrial properties could be reused and repurposed. Metro just needs to help out with a little investment and connecting the street grid.

Metro has so many places that nee help with sidewalks, curbs, and such, this place would not be anywhere near the top of the priority list.

Late summer completion date set for The Row at 12 South, a 17-unit complex directly across the street from the new Police Precinct. A rendering is now available:

I like this project.   E3 is transforming this 3 block stretch connecting Summit/Argyle/Wade.

Mayor Barry proposing to build new Police HQ on Murfreesboro Pike next to the Family Justice Center that's being built. This area is close to downtown and is starting to get more and more attention (Core Development, townhome development around Trevecca, etc)

From the Nashville Post:  "The developer of Outpost, planned for Wedgewood-Houston, is seeking a rezoning. The mixed-use project (read more here) would include multiple buildings and be located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Chestnut Street and Fourth Avenue South."

Here is a new diagram of the site:
