Project updates

10/12/2018

This project is now in the utility relocation phase. During this phase, utility infrastructure such as underground gas, water and sewer lines, as well as overhead power, telephone and television lines, are moved as needed to make way for construction of the project improvements. By the end of this year, the City will invite contractors to submit bids to construct the project. Construction is expected to start by mid-2019 and will be complete in early to mid-2020.

went to optimist hall today. Interior space has a very cool vibe. I ate bao and broth. Had ramen and a bao bun. It was okay but slightly underwhelming. They have 4 or 5 broth options so I wont judge the whole restaurant by the one I had but it was a lot less flavorful than broths I have had in other ramen dishes.

how was the Bao Bun? I've yet to have a good one in Charlotte yet. The one at Hawkers needed some CialisTM

It was okay. I had a German themed one with schnitzel, mustard, and cabbage. This was honestly my first time having one so I can't compare it to others. Id get one again but it didn't blow me away or anything.

Doesn't look like it (pics):

But honestly I don't think it's necessary. Folks rolling down the hill from Villa Heights will already be in the middle of the street, and this bridge Street will still be a side street, albeit an important one.

IMO we don't want to give the message to society that bikes should always be separated from Auto traffic. Mixed traffic riding is an important precedent to set in the right spots, and the NoDa area is the perfect area since there are hardly any real thoroughfares (Parkwood/Plaza). The Greenway and rail trail are just bonus.

Exactly. 25th St will have more pedestrians and cyclists on it than vehicles. If a cyclist is too uncomfortable to ride down a block of street with no vehicular traffic on it then a bike lane won't make a difference anyway.

Good Food on Montford has my favorite pork buns so I have high hopes for this place.  I'll try to make it over this weekend and report back

It's the same owners, so it better be just as good!    "Bao and Broth – Ramen and bun shop from Larry Schreiber, the chef behind Good Food on Montford’s wildly popular steamed buns"  https://www.charlotteagenda.com/142625/everything-we-know-so-far-about-optimist-halls-food-and-drink-tenants/

Speaking of NoDa (wrong thread I know)... can someone tell me what's going on in that spot on 36th next to the Rat's Nest? There have been workers out there every day doing something to the brick structure.

That would be a new location for Industrious, which is a coworking company. 20,000 sq feet, developed by Asana Partners.
