That is so cool! Anyone know what the blob of high crime is in Connecticut on the RI border near West Greenwich? Not the casino, so I wonder what it is?

Check out the red blob for the Northeast Kingdom in Vermont. Never knew it was so bad up there. Really stands out against the rest of northern New England.

EDIT: What's the story on Dennis, MA, crime rating 100/100?

the northeast kingdom could be due to just a few crimes in a town with a very low population.

conway, nh has a dark red blob.

I remember one time Block Island had the highest rate in RI, skewed because they use total crimes divided by the total population of 1,000 people, not factoring in the fact that in the summertime the population swells much higher than that. I have a feeling all these little touristy areas have much lower crime rates than are calculated.

most likely. when the population increases because of tourism, there's always more crime.

I hate 195, I hate Route 44, I hate Taunton, and most of all, I hate driving. I have to either find a new job or move to the Silver City-neither of which I want to do at all. I don't know how people put up with these commutes daily, I can't stand it! How do people drive more than 20 miles to work daily and not want to commit suicide?

where do you work so i know not to apply there? that's just crazy.

We had one guy try to kill himself in the employees parking lot by placing a hose from the exhaust pipe to the back window, but they found him in time. But he later overdosed on pills. Last week a guy blew his brains out but not before making a video explaining why he did what he did, and to say good-bye to some of his coworkers. Our employer won't let us view it though. Seems he couldn't take his extreme back pains and his mother and girlfriend were both ill. And this weekend a woman overdosed on drugs because she lost custody of her kids through a DCYF complaint filed by her sister. She was also going through a rough divorse.

I have a project going on for one of my classes highlighting retail shopping trends and how taxes and convenience factor in to a consumer selecting their decision....so I went to the Marshall's Plaza today in North Attleboro and polled 100 people on where they live and why they come to North Attleboro to shop. Not all questions illicited a response...more one-liners than anything except for a few elderly who were a little more friendlier. 91% of the people were from RI.

Pawtucket-19

Central Falls-10

Cumberland-9

Woonsocket-6

Providence-14

East Providence-3

Lincoln-8

Cranston-4

East Greenwich-1

Foster-1

Burrillville-3

North Providence-2

North Smithfield-4

Smithfield-6

Warwick-1

Most people quoted the sales tax being less in MA and the fact that there was more concentrated shopping with plenty of parking. Interesting...

i'm not surprised... north attleboro is much easier to drive around than rt 2 and is just as easy to get to from the providence area (and is closer to pawtucket, central falls, north smithfield, etc than warwick is).

i bet that's a big part of it... those that drive from teh warwick area probably do it for the lower sales tax. it's a decent savings if you make a large purchase. do they tax clothing in MA?
