I was thinking about this last weekend. It sure would be significant if Hugh McColl could convince the UNC system to open a full-scale law school in Uptown, alongside whatever tech programs they are planning. I know this is not a new thought, but the timing could be right.

So is this really the extent of improvements that this whole area is getting for the music festival? It's less than 3 months away now.

 

At least the festival map is more realistic for the area they have to work with... Here's the approximate layout with the festival map overlaid on an aerial.

It'll be an interesting experiment in taking over portions of Brevard for festival uses at the very least.

The term "Super VIP" on that map makes me cringe.

New festival map update!

 

I truly can't wrap my head around how the logistics for this are gonna work, but the organizers are clearly VERY serious about their parking partners. Only industry leaders involved here, which is very reassuring since one of my biggest daily concerns is who is managing the parking lots I use.

So how much is this festival paying for the use of the park and if the plantings are trampled on who pays the promoter?

I have to assume they won't have both of their main stages in use at the same time. Those are only about 1000 ft apart, there's no way you could have acts playing both and it not be an audible catastrophe.

I'm at this park a couple times a week. Past couple months all the planters have been cleared out and all the larger bushes and trees have been trimmed up considerably.

Could be regular maintenance, could be to help with the homeless. Significantly less homeless there since the landscaping has been thinned out.

No doubt there are some beautiful plants there still but I honestly don't see how even a large scale concert could ruin anything of value in its current t form. 

I got my wife tickets to the festival for her birthday. Huge variety of acts she likes a lot but Noah Kahn one of her favorites.

also much more police presence there over the past 6 weeks or so. (although they are generally just sitting in their car near the tracks).

Was very much urban exploring today on the north side of uptown.   Walked by the new Inlivian apartments.  The new Cakeables at 401 N Tryon building.  The Ellis and their new-to-me pocket park.  Saw the open to streets roll up door bar at the Homewood Suites Hotel (not aware of this).
