At present this is a very odd little outpost of their campus. I hope they connect it to something else before long.

I can't tell what kind of tree they planted in the middle but I really hope they paid attention to the selection.  So many landscapers just pull from their list of go-to trees and don't put enough thought into it.

It’s hard to tell, but from a distance the bark sort of looks like a Chinese Elm. I would have to be right up on it to see. They did spend some bucks for a tree of that size to be planted!

True, and the landscaping crew at Belmont are excellent.  The wife and I may drive down there to see this up close.

My alma mate is not the same place I martriculated through in the late 1980's. Heck, I probably would not even be admitted now. But it is great to see all the growth and change.

Ladies and Gentlemen...the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Belmont University.  I attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning when it was unveiled that its moniker would be after University President Bob Fisher and his wife, Judy.  The 1,700 seat, $141 million edifice is stunning in every respect.

that marble is incredible.  Such a great campus in Nashville. 

I feel Vanderbilt and Belmont are always trying to one up each other... I'm all for it.

Don't know about the acoustics yet but as far as design  this goes way beyond the Schermerhorn-very impressive-particularly for a school the size of Belmont.

This is a beautiful venue! Starting next year, I'll be taking my daughter on some college tours. Vanderbilt was already on the list, but now Belmont is on the radar, as well.

That is a lot more impressive than the old Massey auditorium where I had to attend weekly chapel service. A great addition to the campus.

Thank you so very much! I will reach out as we get a little closer. I live in SC, and my daughter and I will most likely come to Nashville next October for the SC-Vandy football game, with the intent of also doing a campus tour, or perhaps (if they do this) allowing her to shadow a student for a day. Ditto for Belmont. Thank you for your kindness.

Thank you, @markhollin for the incredible interior and exterior shots of Belmont's new Performing Arts Center! I stopped by campus today and snagged a few pics of the newly-renovated Curb Cafe (now just a Chick-Fil-A with tons of seating), along with the new pedestrian promenade/staircase that replaces the connectivity lost when Bernard Ave closed. I'm also especially thankful for the new wide sidewalks and lighting along Belmont Blvd.

Also, you might spot the new and improved International Market, located in the former Blvd Nashville spot.

Not that this is much on topic but I'm reading that Austin Peay is leaving the OVC for ASUN. Belmont and TSU are the Nashville schools still in the OVC, but talk is that with the OVC already weakened by 2 other departures, Belmont may be looking to also leave, perhaps to a stronger conference.
