Greer Stadium site/Fort Negley expansion/redevelopment
yontu2 replied to markhollin's topic in Nashville
It has been nearly a decade since the Sounds last played at Greer stadium. The city has still not even begun the process of turning that large piece of public land into a park.- 233 replies

The large surface lot just to the east of that stretch of 2nd Ave is one of downtown Nashville's most glaring tooth gaps. Any chance it will be developed alongside the rebuilding of the damaged stretch of 2nd Ave?

Does anyone know what the hold-up on the public release of the final master plan might be? This site says that the master plan will be released in August 2022: https://www.nashville.gov/departments/parks/planning-and-development/park-plans-and-projects/fort-negley- 233 replies

The surface parking lot just to the north of the main block that was affected by the bombing is fenced off. This is the lot that consumes the whole block bounded by 1st Ave., 2nd Ave., Church St., and Bank St. Is something happening with that lot as part of the rebuilding? It seems like one of the more glaring pieces of underutilized land downtown.

A friend of mine, who is active on Reddit (Nashville sub-Reddit and otherwise) calls this Urban Planet discussion board "Fake Reddit". Don't worry, I let her know that Fake Reddit is fed up with Real Reddit.

Having some height, residents, and sidewalk retail in that area of Midtown should be a step in the right direction.

This one may come together quickly because they've already built the parking garage next to it and done much of the infrastructure work in earlier phases of the project.

If you look at some of the other cities that are booming right now, like Austin, few (if any) have crowns, but some do have interesting designs, including slanted roofs. Crowns seemed more common in the 1980s–1990s, and cities that boomed during that decade, like Atlanta, are full of that style of tower.

Greer Stadium site/Fort Negley expansion/redevelopment

I really wish that a pedestrian/ bike bridge/ connection with the City Cemetery was part of the master plan, even if it can't be funded in the near term. I've attended community meetings and discussed this/ put it on the map, but I haven't seen it show up in any of the official designs or renderings.- 233 replies

I’m surprised that none of the mixed-use development around the stadium has been started. Was it delayed? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haven at The Gulch, 11 stories, 299 apts, $100 million

I would put it in league with the new TownePlace Suites on Charlotte and Rhythm on Demonbreun, but it has a larger footprint and cheaper/cheesier design than either of those. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 357 replies

With so much attention being paid to this block of 2nd Ave, has there been discussion of the surface parking lot consuming the entirety of the block immediately to the north? I would love to see a well designed building on that site. It could create a continuous pedestrian-friendly experience between City Hall and the Public Square and the part of 2nd Ave that is being rebuilt. For a long time that surface lot has seemed to me like a missing front tooth for downtown Nashville.
