Now I know absolutely nothing about engineering, but is it just me or does this tower have a relatively small floor-to-ceiling ratio? Or is it that what's under construction is still part of the parking garage?

Thanks for the info Matt. I was thinking there's no way this tower is going to reach 226' with floors that small.

Remember that the first few floors are smaller than the rest of the building.

Honestly Krazee it does not look much different. I believe they have completed around 5 or so of the stories. I will be happy to take some pictures in the near future. Currently, it looks almost identical to the pictures you posted above.

So only one full story has been completed in a month? That's ridiculously slow.

The scheduled completion date is January '10 so it seems about right.

Someone needs to take a shot from the top of the Statehouse steps from a wide angle to include the right side of the Capitol Centre and the left side of Number One Main. Columbia is going to be looking like an important city from that view when TM&G is complete. We talkin' jumbled up.

I got some new pictures from middle last month of the construction on the main and gervais. also on my website

I really hope when they finish this building the city will have plans of building another one in downtown.

I dunno. Maybe if the economy picks back up by 2010 and if the demand is needed in Cola but I don't think so by then.

On my drive into town from work in West Columbia yesterday I noticed a floor or two of the tower is already peeking over the top of the parking garage behind the Capitol Centre, and the dimensions of it from that angle, along with the number of floors they still have to go, tell me it is going to have a rather vertical appearance from that viewpoint.

Now that they are up to the part of the building with the smaller footprint, each floor is being added pretty quickly. It is now about halfway or a little more to its total height.
