YOUR RIGHT I THINK THAT THE NEWS TALLEST TOWER SHOULD BE SOMEWHERE ON SUMTER ST.IT SHOULD BE ON THE CORNER OF SUMTER LADY ST. IT SHOULD BE A 50 OR 60 STORY TOWER. ALSO THERE SHOULD BE A NEW SECOND TALLEST TOWER ON MAIN ST ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE BOA PLAZA. SOMETHING LIKE A MALL MIX WITH A HOTEL OR OFFICE BUILDING.

It should be realized that there are many factors that go into how tall a proposed tower should be. A developer doesn't build a tower at a certain height just because it looks nice; they must consider the price of land, the demand for office space, the office space vacancy rate, etc. Being that the Palmetto Center is going to be all but empty next year, it wouldn't be good business sense to build a new 30-story tower, especially without a tenant large enough to absorb all of that space.

The design is still in progress and design development documents were released earlier this week (whatever that means, I got that from one of the Holder people, LOL).

The northwest and southwest parcels at Gervais and Assembly are just begging to be developed.

Wow, it seems like there has really been a lot of tweaking to the design. I guess they didn't like the box or the reverse tapered design with the notch. While they're at it, how about adding another 11 or 12 stories to the height?

According to The State, ground is breaking on TMG on Tuesday. Hopefully final renderings will be available soon.

They had said construction should start in July. Groundbreakings usually take place about a month before construction actually starts, so let's not get upset if bulldozers aren't constantly moving there tomorrow.

I went by today at lunch and there were still cars in the parking lot.

I drove by yesterday and saw stakes in the ground that weren't there before, including a couple of them at the corner of the Capitol Centre tower in front of the plaza. There was no tent nor any other sign of activity.
