I don't often kvetch but I have little patience with employees who don't pay careful attention to information they dispense for The Nat.

Their misinformation can cause grief for potential ticket buyers and damage the National's reputation.

I have twice telephoned the sweet lady in the National Box Office about misinformation in the Nat's weekly e-mail notice concerning an incorrect date for the DEAFTONES. She assured me she had sent an e-mail correction to Norfolk from whence the weekly e-mail is disseminated..

The DEAFTONES will appear on the National's stage WEDNESDAY NIGHT, SEPTEMBER 1st.

Two consecutive e-mail releases from the "boss" operation at The Norva in Norfolk, despite corrections from The National box office, are still posting an incorrect date in their e-mails for the DEAFTONES' Richmond appearance.

The schedule on the National's website is correct.

I personally sent an e-mail to Norva's listed contact address, but it was undeliverable on aol.

PS: I don't even know who the Deaftones are, so it's not a personal vendetta.

Deftones. I like some of their music but the vocals are rather bad live.

Melissa Ruggieri, The Times Dispatch music critic and writer is leaving Richmond and heading to Atlanta where she will join the staff of that city's Journal-Constitution.

Her decision is a big loss for Richmond, but a good career move on her part.

Melissa has a story about Adam Lambert in today's RTD and reports that a few tickets are available for his National concert Friday night, August 27th:

The Nat's box office: 804/612-1900

This review of Adam Lambert's show Friday night at The National is probably the last one for Melissa Ruggieri in The Richmond Times Dispatch. She has accepted a position as entertainment writer with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Judging from the comments following her RTD rave coverage of Lambert, Melissa's reputation as a writer is getting some wide attention which can only enhance her journalistic career.

Lambert fans from all over have picked up on Melissa's review and have seen clips of Lambert's performance at The National on the net (see above posting.)

Melissa's final Richmond music review may prove propitious, indeed!

Despite a big glaring announcement on the home page of the Nat's website advertising GHOSTLAND OBSERVATORY for Tuesday, 9/21, the concert has been moved to Wednesday night, Sept. 22nd. All tix purchased for Tuesday show will be honored.

Those folks at The Norva who are responsible for mailings and the website of the Nat should get their act together.

THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS with NEKO CASE and Tokyo Police Club perform tonight at The Nat at 8PM.

DRIVE-BY-TRUCKERS are in for two nights -- Friday, Oct. 29th and Saturday, Oct. 30th.

PRETTY LIGHTS come back to The National for another engagement on Thursday, Nov. 4th.

and:

THE LEGWARMERS who were on stage at The Nat last Friday are coming back for their third visit on Jan. 21sr 2011.

And a reminder to ticket holders: Unlike the NORVA, The National has almost 300 sought-after, first come, first served permanent theatre seats in the upper balcony. If you have dinner at GIBSON's GRILL you will be escorted into the adjacent theatre before doors open to others. Be sure to allow plenty of time and show your tickets at the restaurant.

Seating in the mezzanine and in box seats is reserved for VIP members who pay upward of $5K per annum. Members also have their own private bar, lounge and restrooms.

Here is a slide show of METRIC in their concert last night at The National.

From today's Richmond dot com:

http://www2.richmond...etric-national/

I used to get a lot of the information I post here from the National's Facebook. But they've recently made it inaccessible to non-facebookers and I'm simply too old to learn how to join it or any of the other things like "youtube", etc.

So henceforth, since I'm about the only person who contributes, this site will be less active. :fun:

Here's the website for quick reference:

Except for Friday November 12th which is still dark, every night at The National is booked between SHINEDOWN on Monday November 8th and JETHRO TULL on Sunday November 14th.

On the other hand, there is big gap between CARBON LEAF on Sunday December 18th and KELLER WILLIAMS onThursday December 30th. That's 12 dark nights.

But I notice the NorVa is also dark between 12/18 and 12/29.

Maybe the Nat has some Christmas surprises up its sleeve. I hope so because that's when I'll be in Richmond and I always enjoy checking them out every visit.

I don't know who the performers are in these newest photos from the Nat's facebook, but the caption indicates they were posted "yesterday".

Does anyone have a clue? My guess is PRETTY LIGHTS.

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31804749&o=all&op=1&view=all&subj=40197037867&aid=-1&id=1089070368&oid=40197037867#!/photo.php?pid=31804760&o=all&op=1&view=all&subj=40197037867&aid=-1&id=1089070368&oid=40197037867&fbid=1654481997117

.

Although I can't access the full facebook, I notice that those who have signed up for it now total 19,930. It wasn't long ago that the figure was less than 10,000.

The NorVa has about 26,000 facebookers, but then it has been open considerably longer than The National.

By local contrast, The Hat Factory claims 15,605.

CLUTCH comes into The Nat Monday December 27th at 8PM. So far, it is the only concert scheduled between CARBON LEAF onDec. 18th and KELLER WILLIAMS on Dec. 30th.

So, I'll get a chance to check out The National on my Christmas break in Richmond.

Check http://www.thenationalva.com.

I believe tickets for CLUTCH are not yet on sale.

I don't know who or what SOUND TRIBE SECTION 9 is, but I'd go just to see the light show.

They are coming into The Nat on March 5th at 9PM (see details under the picture.)

There's going to be a bit more life along Broad Street when a seasonal ice rink opens diagonally across from the National on December 22nd. You'll be able to get a good view of the skaters from the second level bars at The Nat.

Click http://www.cjwn.net/news/2010/1205/skating-along-broad-street for details.

The NorVa Theatre in Norfolk is putting concert tickets on sale from a mobile van.

Will the National work out a similar deal with, let's say, Sally Belle's for cupcakes, or something more substantial from Boka Truck?
