MLBrumby
"Music Row" is the Faison project? I was up in Nashville at midweek and drove past that site and saw nothing there... looks like the ground had been graded and the fence... but nothing else. That's what you're asking, right? Griz83
Hi all, long time reader, first time poster... 5th & Main - Great finds! But, I have two points of order: firstly, at the time of construction the Renaissance Hotel was known as the Stauffer Hotel. Secondly, and I know this because I work there, the rendering of the TN Tower is simply a recent (within the last couple of years) photo which has been color shifted and had some other effects or filters applied. bwithers1
There is now what appears to be a stairwell or elevator tower on the 2300BerryHill building site.
MidTenn1
Saw this on facebook. One of the iconic monuments on West End across from Centennial Park. It was a skating rink that presented 'wrasslin' on Saturday nights. It was replaced by a 14 story Holiday Inn in the 70's. By iconic, I meant the Hippodrome, not the 65 Mustang in front. fieldmarshaldj
^Absolutely criminal what this city allowed to be demolished, and for what ? Of course, we're not the only ones guilty of that.

MLBrumby
Thanks for posting the pics. Fun to see what used to be in places. That Mustang got around LOL. Anyone know anything about the history of that next block up the street, at that corner of 21st and Blakemore. I remember a HG Hill being there, but it looks like "TEN" on the side of the building. I know that whole street/intersection was completely redone in the 1970s to serve as something of a bypass around the southern edge of the campus and medical center. Was a building demolished on this side of the HG Hill? And do I remember that Hammond Organ store... was it around as late at the early 1990s? Despite all the changes, it looks better today than in the mid-1960s. However, I am a bit saddened that all the goods and services in that block (save for the Villager) are now at "Big Boxes". East Side Urbanite
Hippodrome Skating. Lets move a little further south. You gotta love the Sterling beer sign. I drank a lot of that beer in college in the early 1980s. WW
nashvillwill
I'm having a little trouble placing this. Is this the corner where you Greek, me Greek and Cumberland Transit are today?
MLBrumby
No... it's the block in Hillsboro Village across from Pancake Pantry and Jackson's. All of the buildings are still there, but look quite different.

bwithers1
I drove past the 2300BerryHill site again yesterday and there was a ginormous crane doing some work on their absolutely huge parking garage that is built at the back part of that lot. The stairwell/elevator thing is closer to Franklin Road and is sticking out waiting for the residential part to be built around it. Did we say that this one is going to be stick built? There is now what appears to be a stairwell or elevator tower on the 2300BerryHill building site.
smeagolsfree
I did notice last Saturday there was a large crane at the Lentz Health site. Was a track crane. I would expect to see cranes rising at the hotels projects at 1800 West end and the Turner project at Meharry soon as well.
