A shot taken Friday evening from just a little further down Shelby than Mark's (near 5th) with the skyline in silhouette. The view of the skyline from Shelby might be the best in the city.

BTW, does anyone know what is going on with the revolving restaurant at the top of the Sheraton?  I heard it was closed because of issues with handicap access but that doesn't really make sense because the elevator went right to that floor. With all the construction downtown I expect the view is quite remarkable.

Revolving restaurants were already falling out of favor but then there was also an incident a few years ago in Atlanta where a boy was killed when he got stuck between a revolving wall and a stationary wall.  Declining interest in the business model + lots of extra scrutiny and liability have made most of the remaining revolving restaurants close in recent years.

Does the space not still work as a restaurant with the revolving floor turned off?

Of course it would still work as a restaurant but the revolving part was often the gimmick that got people in the door.

Not really. People love to go to Bourbon Steak and that doesn't revolve, for example.

And it doesn't need to revolve... it's angled at the best skyline view of all.
