This and that throughout Cabarrus County including the upcoming opening of the state's first Homesense store in Kannapolis

One is planned for Cornelius as well in the old Stein Mart there so I guess it will be a race to see which one opens first to be the first in the Carolinas.

^^ the Speedway Club is a fine dining facility in the top floors of that tower overlooking the track.  Private club but open for Restaurant week and the views are great.

Many rich people are involved in NASCAR, so it’s not surprising that the CMS has a fancy restaurant.  The CMS is like the Yankee Stadium or La Scala of racing.  It’s the pinnacle of its field.

Daytona International Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway would like a word.

These are quality looking projects too. DT Kannapolis is starting to develop into a legit little employment/residential node. If we could ever get some regional rail going, with the station so close by, it could really be something special. Sort of like a mini-Silver Spring or Rockville.

I very much agree with this. Does anyone know if there have been any explorations at all of a regional/commuter rail out to Kannapolis or Salisbury? It seems like a pretty obvious move considering that's just the existing Amtrak route, I'm thinking it wouldn't be all that hard to implement right? Especially compared to the nightmare of the Red Line at the moment.

Town of Harrisburg has rezoning right now for "Train station"  which is most likely commuter rail or maybe even Amtrak.  But I think the state is prepping for commuter rail but who knows.

I'm pretty sure it's initially for Amtrak but would be on the same line as the commuter rail up to Salisbury, so it will be a seamless addition to that.

I've seen an old study related to this, so maybe this is next step?

Yes this station rezoning and plans are the result of that study.  Sounds like the Cary station gets a lot of business even though Raleigh one is not too far away.  It is probably a ways off but you have to start planning for it.
