Society is quickly rising in downtown.  I watched them pour these columns the other day.  This is looking from in front of the courthouse. The Livingston side is already giving the area that urban canyon feel.

The area around the courthouse is really coming alive. I think this will be that big final project to make this area feel like a part of downtown. I know some on here have said they'll miss the views of the courthouse but I think this building will add a nice layering to the skyline. At lunch time, the south side of the courthouse has a lot of activity. That should improve even more once the retail at Radius opens. The construction workers from Society are keeping the 7-11 and Dunkin in Central Station open. 

Has any of the retail for Society been announced? I'm surprised at how little retail the MAA Robinson building has. This area needs more dining options that are open in the evenings. It also could benefit from a DGX or other urban store.  Hopefully whatever eventually comes to the Orlando Sentinel site will include a heavy amount of retail. I'd love to see something like a more urban SODO there. Mosaic in the Virginia suburbs of DC is about what I'm thinking. There's plenty of residential in this area, now it needs some entertainment and shopping.

I think it's just an older rendering before the height adjustments that they reuse

I haven’t seen this rendering before. I must say that I think this height variation may have offered better scale with BOA.

I think it just boils down to what type of person you are. The aspirational types want the highest and best use of the space given. The non-aspirational types are happy with what they're given. Neither are wrong necessarily in terms of Orlando and our ability to transcend, but the opinions do indeed differ.

I think it's more about realistic vs unrealistic expectations.

Doesn't mean some are non-aspirational or happy with whatever they're given, but that they just aren't going to beat their heads against the wall over something none of us have any control over anyway.

If a building is truly ugly, that's one thing. 

But if it is OK, just not spectacular, why grouse about it?

It's wild. Society and the Lincoln property projects alone are better than anything we are getting in the uncreative village so while they are funky looking I don't have any complaints personally.

IDK, it's from their Instagram and they recently posted it so you might want to tell them to fix it lol. Just noticed a rendering I haven't seen before and thought I'd share to provide a little context from street view.

Looks like the decorative double lines on the podium also carry over along Livingston so they might be kind of weird lighting fixture like uncreative mentioned. Whatever they are, I can't help but wonder why they need to be there & what purpose do they serve...

I think I've seen a total of like 2 or 3 regular (single strand) power lines in the CBD and they look so out of place because they only span from one post to the next and then terminate.

I have seen this rendering before.  I believe the taller tower is closer too the BOA building.  Hope so anyways. 

I was thinking about all the excellent proposals for this parcel of land.  The skyscraper with the cove on top.  The soccer stadium built above a parking garage and the campus with two buildings stack like books.  This project is pretty mundane compared to what has been proposed over the years.

I believe that's an older rendering.

Possibly from when they were still proposing three towers.

Agreed. The space between the towers (pool deck area) was significantly bigger once they scaled back to two towers.

Thanks for the update Ken, awesome pictures! I agree some some cool new retail combined with all the new residential would really liven the side of downtown up. Hoping this area synergizes with UCF Downtown and the new EA headquarters to create a vibrant neighborhood around Lynx Central.

I looked back through this thread to about mid 2020 when we were calling this project (still Golden Sparrow at the time) dead.

I found a few renderings of the current incarnation of it on their FB page.

A few of them I've seen here.

But I had not seen this one yet....

It's this last one that made the biggest impression on me.

A street level view looking east on Livingston. 

This view, moreso than any other I've seen, really suggests that this building, when completed, will really transform DTO in terms of creating the kind of urban, cosmopolitan feel for pedestrians, that we have been hoping to achieve for so long,

Zoom in on this rendering to the point that it looks like what you'd see if you were there walking along Livingston.

You really get a sense of the feel this project will create at street level.
