Many of the joints on Broadway are not really hosting “country” bands. Lots of very loud rock band cover tunes blaring out into the streets! I wish we’d get more actual country/bluegrass/americana music out there.

Admittedly, I haven't been down to Broadway to party in several years, but that's definitely a new criticism to me... that Broadway doesn't have enough country?  Certainly never heard that one before!

I sorta disgree about the country music, took some friends from out of town and we bar hopped.  Most of it was the newer country covers which often doesn't sound very country which may be donNdonelson2's point.  But what all of them said and we heard it all night from others was how talented the singers and musicians were in every bar we went into.  They also couldn't believe they were hearing so much talent with no cover charge.  We also went to Rudy's Jazz room and saw a local singer who teaches at Belmont in the music department and she is fantastic with both standard jazz and her own song.  Go see Stephanie Adlington there or she also performs at Grays on Main in Franklin or Sambucca.

The Mainland Project (refurbishing former school and adding several 3 story structures for a total of 47 condos) update.  Foundation slabs being placed is sections now.

My girlfriend absolutely loves that building. I feel sorry for the residents though, because it will be surrounded by 4 hotels. Talk about not a real cohesive neighborhood

It’s going to get there. That neighborhood is a work in progress but it’s going to be a really cool mixed-use neighborhood in 10 years or so. With a higher percentage of hotel rooms than most neighborhoods, of course.

I think the land acquisition process is just moving along at a snail's pace, but last I heard it was still on.

It is still moving forward but the problems are on the Gulch side of the track from what I am hearing.

I wish they would get the thing going, it's going to be an awesome catalyst on both sides of the tracks. If it's the property owners holding it up, they're shooting themselves in the foot.
