The Shelby House will be the name of the 5 story, 484 unit affordable housing development/71,000 sq. ft. recovery center (with 132 beds) by a joint agreement between Evergreen Real Estate, Holladay Ventures, and Samaritan Recovery Center. Ground should be broken later this month on the first phase (195 residential units) on the 4.6 acre site at NW corner of Shelby Ave. and  South 5th St. (407 South 4th St.). A new rendering is below.

I bet they are.  Madison has added so few new businesses in the last decade it is kind of bizarre.  I guess everyone is waiting for Madison Center to get redeveloped?

An unnamed Wyoming-based trust has purchased the Fieldhouse Jones Hotel building (5 stories, 93 rooms, and rooftop bar) at 811 Main St. for $27.75 million from Lyla Tov Hospitality. The structure was heavily damaged in the March 2020 tornado, but has been fully repaired and is ready to go.  No word on what brand will be put in place.

Architect Tracey Ford at EOA really hit a home run with these designs, both at the Red Oak Flats but especially here at the Red Oak Townhomes.  I like the way that the vertical architectural elements help these townhome units visually ambulate over the hillside topography of this site.  Cayce residents had input into color choices and some of those kinds of details as well. The playground under the branches of one of the Nashville Tree Foundation "Big Old Tree Context" champion shade trees is stellar.

I really wish we had a lot more of this than the ugly tall and skinny ugly things all around town. I would have been much more in favor of controlled and structured growth with Row type housing to the point of requiring it instead of a lot of what we got.

This was an excellent project and I didn’t really she was the architect.
