So is the front retail going to be in the small offset portion? The rest looks like lobby.

Legacy Union (former Charlotte Observer redevelopment)

Why would you think that? Residential floors and parking garage floors are 10 ft tall. So if it’s 50 stories it equals 500ft. It’s pretty much the amount of floors multiplied by the 10ft floor height. Then add the height of the decorative top. -
Only a couple more floors until the office portion of the building starts.

I saw that yesterday and was curious as well.

I was definitely just thinking of that. SouthEnd needs another park and another hotel.

Nope! That area needs dense development not a stand alone one story building unless it it’s incorporated into the ground floor of a structure. It needs to be in a place that has a large scale surface parking lot. Possibly where lower development is like off South Blvd or further down in SouthEnd. Not Uptown. Such a waste of space unless it is incorporated into the ground floor of a building uptown.

Not only is Charlotte "Crane City," but it is also "Container City." So yeah. You're right.

I wonder how long will Midnight Diner even stay there before that block gets more developed. I think they should really try and find this place a nice permanent spot that won't be in a "soon to be threat" location for redevelopment.

Yeah inside of the actual theatre but this new glass structure is still empty on the inside and far from finished. That is the part that I am talking about. I'm all for historic preservation and know it takes time but this just feels like a hazardous construction site.

I’d love the hotel but this construction site has been an eyesore. Like they've been building this bottom portion for nearly three years at this point.
-
At this point I’d rather them just hurry and finish what’s built and clear the construction site than to prolong and hope for a hotel.

Im speaking of pretty much all towers. Of course not BofA and a few others but that’s about it. Most all of them look like anywhereville. Just saying. Ok see this looks better. I wanted more material instead of glass which I didn’t see in the other as much. Just saying I wasn’t making a big deal. Just saying that.

I agree. I am okay with not even seeing a new tallest any time soon . I think a city that is growing like Charlotte that has so many surface parking lots and room to grow, density in general should be more of the focus. I'd just love the see the skyline spread out more North, West, and East. We all know it is growing South.

It’s still hard to see this plan on those two small lots. Even though these are old renderings, For some reason I’m not understanding how these 4 towers would be placed on the two lots. As well as a functioning transit station at the bottom.

This parking deck getting the color really looks beautiful in person. Really adds character to the building. Makes the deck feel less garagey if that makes sense.

I absolutely love how far back this building is set and how large the front patio area is along with the depth added from the sidewalk. It doesn’t make the area feel so tightly built and I love that openness off it.
