  1. And that is my entire point. Im actually agreeing with you. Charlotte just has to continue with consistant growth with buildings like this and they it wiil add appeal.
  2. I agree. I didnt want to say all that but they took me there in the comments. lol But on the other hand there are inland cities with no vacation appeal that are desired for travel like Atlanta, Memphis, and even Dallas that people want to visit. I didn't take the conversation there. I was responding to someone who talked about those things. I just said this building is nice and should be the direction Charlotte goes to have more of a staple or interest...but whatever you say,.
  3. You are soooooo right. I thought Charlotte, and Charleston were well known enough for people to know the difference but people always get them and Charlottesville confused...I don't get it. like they all cannot be anymore different. And tbh. I cant think of anything unique for this city that is being stuffed with transplants. And lets point out a big giveaway.....what's Charlotte's biggest slogan at the moment in recent years...lol "Charlotte's Got a Lot." They know what people say about this city, and they are trying to prove them wrong. Just hasn't worked yet. *shrugs*
  4. Charlotte was founded in the 1700s tho. Thats plenty of time to have character by now....Myrtle Beach was established only 82 yeaars ago and has a sense of place. I agree with those things but none of that has to do with my initial point. Sure its affordable, good jobs, and has all 4 seasons.... its THE typical average American city. Im talkinig about attractions people actually travel across country or even the world to see or want to go to. I get it "Charlotte is still growing"
  5. the screening is better than leaving it all bare and unfinished looking.
  6. ohhhh. ok didnt even notice that. It doesn't look half bad.
  7. See thats fine, but as long as they do something and not leave it all grey and bland looking.
  8. well that sucks! i hope the future buildings and lanscpae saves this. smh Not even another mural?
  9. ...Donald Trump? ugh what could be worst to be tied to?
  10. Does anybody Know how high is that fake brick wall going to go up the parking deck?
  11. I get it. But i just feel they should know these grounds well enough since this was firs proposed in 2007, and its only one structure and a parking garage minus the hotel.... so 2018 - 2021 seems so long to me, but hey.
  12. Yes greenspace for more outdoor foot traffic and beauty would be a great addition.
  13. And how uninteresting is that...... I'm talking about something relevant. lol But that still isnt that interesting.
  14. This to me is probably the best idea for the empty lot that was, but the worst result I could imagine. The execution of the parking garage and the cover up with that instillation art is the most HIDEOUS combination out of all of Charlotte's apartment garages. The front bottom looks good with the brown and Wholefoods there, but the rest is so random. This entire building should have been covered in a light brick color with a completely hidden garage with the apartments wrapped around all sides and none of it poking out above the top apartment floors around the shorter section.
  15. lol!! I was like, this building is like 6 stories high already on the framing.
  16. And I know that there will be a hotel on the parking lot in front of the Spectrum Center, but wouldn't that be the perfect place for a park like Romare Bearden? Like that entire square lot between East Trade, and East 4th st? And just put the hotel facing 4th street where those once proposed condos were supposed to go...
  17. Am I the only one that thinks the date of this buildings completion seems odd. Like will it really take that long?
  18. lol. Youre right. Being near water always gives a city an advantage.
  19. Ok ok. Maybe add in Jacksonville. But still. my point still stands. totally agree. And better museums. Just googling attractions in Charlotte makes me cringe.
  20. I know the plans may be already finalized, but wouldn't a nice aquarium, or ferris wheel near the park be a really nice addition to Brooklyn Village? It would break up all the apartments, hotels, and office buildings to get people outdoors and it would be another option for fun uptown. Just a thought.
  21. I think that that empty rectangular parking lot right between Ascent and the ballpark should be turned into a unique hotel with underground parking only (please) that will cover the entire rectangular block. Maybe around 300 to 400 rooms and lots of retail for more foot traffic around Romare Bearden Park . And then forget about the one they had proposed for the side of the ballpark. It would come in handy if the BB&T ballpark were to be transformed in the future into a major league stadium.
  22. Easily the most interesting building being built in all of Charlotte right now. This type of architecture is what Charlotte needs to not just be another stick in the mud city as it currently looks. Lets be honest here. Charlotte is the largest U.S. city not known for anything. Not its history, not its landscape, etc. So I feel that all of the surface and vacant lots in and around uptown should capitalize on making really big nice parks like RB and more interesting buildings like this one, then I believe Charlotte can be a memorable city in that way. But it does take the cake for cleanest downtown(Uptown) for most people.
