  1. I’m aware of that but will it be enough to house that many apartments and what are they going to do about the surface lot right next to it?
  2. So what about parking? And what will happen to the joining surface parking lot.
  3. I’ll post this here as well! So exciting!
  4. I think it’s a nice height to be honest. As long as it’s taller than Deloitte, then I’m ok. I Like a variety.
  5. Don’t know if this has been posted but I am actually excited to know that the old Duke building will be saved and converted and have that much retail! Sure a new tower would be nice but this would be so much quicker to finish and saves a building to be repurposed. I want to see how creative they get with one of the ugliest buildings in all of Uptown!! Lol
  6. Thanks. That's actually a good thing.Deloitte is the best looking thing from this entire project.
  7. Is there anything you could tell us. Like your opinion of it. As simple as how attractive is the building in comparison to the others that are apart of the entire LU buildout so far.
  8. Just imaging the clusterf**k traffic that both of these sites will create. At least its for some good growth. So I wouldn't mind.
  9. I wish this project was more red like the renderings. I still like it, but this feels very cold.
  10. I’ve always felt that Charlotte should get w Ferris Wheel or something to liven up the outdoor scene. Shout had the city buzzing but there needs to be more permanent fixtures to keep that wave.
  11. 1992.....thats kind of a stretch. I mean if you just love Charlotte, then okay, but 1992....the city barely had actual skyscrapers...
  12. I always watch events come to uptown like shout and think to myself that Charlotte could have this type of energy for most of the year if they build more strategically. And by that I mean everything built should have retail, and current large lobbies should be converted into retail. I think as more developments come to Uptown, like hotel and residential, there will be more people out and about to soak in what Uptown has to offer. And with that being said…Uptown needs to offer more things to do because these same few museums are nice but they need some company. I hope the Museum of the New South will be built to be more grand and be placed in Uptown and eventually spur more growth. Preferably on the North Side. I will say that I wish that Discovery Place could be rebuilt as well. It always seems so cold and dead every time I pass by.
  13. This whole block should be redeveloped. So little is sitting on such much land. These buildings look very Myrtle Beachish! Hideous!
  14. Where the data center is, was what I mentioned briefly and I too think that it would be best to go there. It’s the closest you can get to the convention center without having to cross the street, and would give that area some major life and foot traffic. DE2 will bring some retail in the back so this could add some more and bring loads of people and it would create a vibrant atmosphere because this street is pretty dead until you get to the epicenter, and even now, that’s dead. And just think of how small that space is, they would be forced to make that a really tall tower. And depending how they would do the parking, I would assume that it would this tower, having that many rooms and being on that little lot, that it would be hands down the tallest hotel in all of the Carolinas. I would say at least 40 stories.
  15. That’s an exciting thing to hear. But I think my point is more so speaking to how right now most of the skyline is comprised of just Uptown, and Uptown right now is not really leading development that is noticeable to the average person or the naked eye. Lots of developments are filling in undeveloped areas and not really changing the skyline or stretch of it. You see what I’m saying. And yes it will take all the surrounding center city developments to connect to make it feel bigger.
  16. I see your point but I think the skyline went from lackluster to decent. I’ll just pull it back some. Sure in recent years this project and others have transformed the skyline but for a metro and city this large I think it’s still in a sense lacking. Looking at the skyline I (a person with great guessing ability) if I didn’t live here or know, would guess that this is a city of about 300 to 400,000 people. I know skylines dont determine population but there is somewhat of a correlation. I still feel like it’s a city with just a few blocks full of density. Let’s be real. This city has grown tremendously but most of the growth has been spread out and hasn’t created that much density as most people may think. I would assume that like 90% of the apartments built in the last 10 years have been no taller than 6 stories. And office for the most part has been below midrise. Not saying skyscrapers haven’t been built because it’s obvious but it’s still not really making center city feel or look that much more dense. I feel like Nashville, Atlanta and Austin are cities where they are truly becoming more dense centrally while Charlotte is kind of semi-dense. I think it’s going to take the proposed Dillworth/SouthEnd and a few more North side of Uptown developments for Charlotte to actually feel and visually look that big of a difference bigger.
  17. Just a thought…..I think that the 1,000 hotel, should have gone where the Embassy Suites is across from NASCAR HOF. Was just uptown and was thinking about how small that hotel is and then how it would have been the perfect location for the 1000 room hotel to be since it’s so close to the convention center. Because what other spot is left at this point unless they demolish that building on the same lot with the convention center and build right next to it.. The ES there now is ok but it doesn’t really have much activity there and too little retail. I absolutely hate the side that has no retail, just a huge blank wall. Sure the garage isn’t exposed but it could have had some type of art there at least.
  18. are there any current plans to redevelop these two lots?
  19. Taller to my understanding. By about 80 ft. So you’ll notice the difference.
  20. I feel like it would work for NorthEnd, or Midtown…this doesn’t fit here but it’s not a bad looking building. But no retail is ridiculous!
  21. On the last renderings that actually showed the garage, they have it lightly screened. But my issue is that it’s just a deck with nothing around it or on top. But that was when the plans called for much more parking.
  22. But sadly the pedestrian plaza will be an area with retail at the ground floor of an exposed parking garage…..ugh! They could have utilized that space a lot better.
  23. Jason Thomas said on Instagram that he has renderings but was asked not to post them or any other details about this projects so I guess we’ll just have to wait. But I sure do hope that there is not one ounce of beige in this one. Sure I’d like it to look cohesive but no! If anything I wish they made the parking Deck and LU3 beige because that brick is so dull to me.
