New Greenville developments

This whole guessing game is pretty intense, even for me and I write some of the most "intertesting" development posts on the board. If you can't say (I know that position) hint, and hint alot.

I'm with greenvilleguy. GvilleSC, this is starting to get ridiculous. Why don't you just tell us what it is and get it over with? I hate it when people do this. If this rumor is true, were going to find out eventually. How is it going to hurt anything? First, you said it would be yesterday and it wasn't then you said it would be today and it wasn't. What's next, tomorrow? People need to get their facts straight and make sure they are correct before posting rumors that might not even be true.

I know it is worth keeping it top secret because it is something that the area will like because of its natural recreation and golfing's popularity.

Could it be Bass Pro Shop's official announcement for their Greenville Mall site location? They were last reported to be making something official by the end of the month.

Ok, sorry, i'm working all day and taking a class at clemson. This is my first opportunity to get back to you guys. I know and I hate the feeling of wondering and I seriously appologize. Here's the situation. I saw some renderings for a development. There was a date on them. I assumed that the date would be their announcement. Why else would you have nice renderings printed with a date?! Well the date passed with nothing... sorry.

BUT there WILL be big news on Sunday. I SWEAR! It's not downtown and it will happen through a press release on SUNDAY. This is a different thing. I hope it makes up for my big let down... :(

Wish I could say more and I wouldn't have told you, but I feel really bad about the first one. BUT I promise this will happen on sunday :w00t:

Ummmm, without me saying... you're close on one of the announcements.:) But it's not the store :D

I don't think this has been posted anywhere yet, but there is another article in today's Greenville News about High Cotton:

http://www.greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs..../605190307/1003

One interesting quote at the end of the article:

Asked about the lack of tourist traffic in Greenville, compared to Charleston, Elliott said tourists account for most of the business in high-end restaurants in downtown Charleston, and he acknowledged that Greenville doesn't have as much tourist traffic.

"What Greenville has, though, in far greater abundance than Charleston has, is business travelers," Elliott said. "You have a much stronger base of business here, particularly international business."

I think this statement is pretty accurate. While it is obvious that we are increasing our tourist traffic, business is still our bread and butter. In terms of economic stability and prospects for the future, that is how I prefer to be. Fortunately, Greenville is increasing its reputation as SC's business and economic center, as well as a blossoming tourist destination.

This may be nothing, but I noticed a truck carrying pieces of a large crane into the city via I-185 earlier today. Anyone know anything?

How awesome would that be to see this going up for the pinnacle or Camperdown!!!???? dont know anything here, but I hope the crane wasnt just going to its home but is planning on going up somewhere... :D

Was it a tower crane like the one at riverplace or just a regular crane like they use to build schools?

I was just down at the Greek Festival and I suspect the crane you are talking about is the one in front of the Landmark Building. This crane looks like it is doing work on the roof of the Landmark Building (yes it was reaching above the building!). Sorry....looks like its maintenance related.

Update - BB&T on Friday closed their branch in the lobby of the Landmark Building and the crane today removed the BB&T sign from the top of the building.

I'm guessing it is the Greenville Mall redevelopment plan. :P

The store we know is already coming. I went by two stores in The Plaza which a few associates confirmed it is coming. Bass Pro Shops is finishing up their official announcement. It would not hurt to email them saying how great Greenville is to have one.

Okay, I know we already have a thread devoted to this project, but I think it will be worthy of mentioning here as well. Look into the door at 655 South Main Street and you will see something that will simply amaze you! The renderings for The Cancer Survivors Park are on display and are stunning! :yahoo:
