At least it still appears to be a full-service Hilton. It's a shame that a downtown our size doesn't have one.

Even at 16 stories, it would've broken 200ft because of the conference space. At 20 it'll prob be mid to upper 200's, or exactly as tall as Trader so yeah, makes sense.....

The conference center in Norfolk will target a completely different audience than the Va. Beach Con. Cnter. It's apples and oranges...they're not meant to compete.

I still think the hotel needs at least 350 rooms in order to effectively compete in the convention market. Will the design provide space for possible future expansion?

At least we know this thing will be high-class. A 4-star hotel is nothing to sneeze at. Plus, it says it will be 19-20 stories, so it's higher than the 15 or so some of us thought.

Kill it! Now that's what I call being bamboozled! Why doesn't the city just build it themselves and take all the revenue? I knew from the start this Johnson guy was a swindler. I hate seeing Norfolk being taken advantage of. This is really getting me upset!

At one point we are told that there's other interests in building more hotel space downtown. Now we're told that we are not worthy of a four star hotel without subsidies. If there is no market here for this thing, don't build it. We need a viable project, not a status symbol. There are better status symbols than hotels, such as iconic libraries or spectacular parks--something that really serves a public purpose. Pull the plug on these robbers now or the public will surely show their outrage.

I say kill this project. It's cool to have minority do business but I don't believe it's a good reason to gouge the city for a tower.
