Wordsmith,

I think you are thinking of shed 1 (post #1013). It was demolished with the construction of the freeway.

Why thank you... And just think, it was completely unnecessary as I believe (tell me if I'm wrong) that the freeway doesn't even touch Shed #1's former position... *grumbles due to sleepiness and Detroit brand lousiness*

Nice pictures, guys! I gotta start doing more panos, tapezord. That's got to be at least a year old, through right?

The think I LIKE about the 1001 garage is that it doesn't have slanting walls, or the slanting facade like many garages do. Though you can see it through the "windows", the square design is still superior looking to the ugly slant. Just my little observative opinion.

Speaking of 1001 Woodward Garage, I bid thee Freud Building farewell!

After this shot was taken, I ran up to the fence and grabbed a piece of terra cotta to add to my authentically Detroit collection. ;)

as far as parking garages go, I think that looks terrific! Very classy and it maintains profile nicely with the building across state street. Well done!

By the way, with regard to my little panoramic, I plan to do another one on my annual downtown detroit tour on the day after thanksgiving (I do my a lot of my xmas shopping downtown on that day... its not easy but its worth it). I have some interesting before and afters of the merchants row buildings that I should be posting soon.

That has to be the nicest garage in Detroit. Im very impressed. It fits in with the other historical buildings and has a street level presence with the ground floor retail. It would be cool if down the road they put some residential up there like it was designed to be capable of having. I think i read something like 13 more floors are possible.
