Downtown Orlando Project Discussion

OS is reporting that the BellSouth building on Orange has been purchased to convert into a commercial office building or to be razed for apartments. Although my first thoughts go to preservation - not for historical value, per se, but for environmental reasons, I think apartments could better fit that portion of the block, assuming it'd be the low-rise, structured parking pattern we've been seeing.

Also, the Sentinel lets us know that The Sevens has come online. That was quick, and another example of quality of recent reporting from our local papers.

^^

interesting.   and thanks for posting.

it looks like there ultimately will be a second row of high rises behind Central and on Pine, with 101 Eola to the east, extending towards Capital Plaza's parking deck (and perhaps further if Capital Plaza III and/or their proposed hotel is built at Pine & Rosalind) with Sanctuary, *Citi Tower (*construction wall up), and this Daniels Corp apt tower perhaps being the next tower to get built..

This hotel looks promising. Looks to fit the area quite well. I'm hoping for another high end restaurant in that space. We've got plenty of fast casual/casual restaurants. We need more fine dining especially with the new crowd coming downtown.

Based on the plan for this hotel and the city's push for better restaurants I'd be shocked if the restaurant planned for this hotel isn't upscale.

It's time for the ARB to step in.

The only thing that really bothers me is the big blank white walls on the end and below the infinity pool.  I think some kind of tile mural ... or something.  Maybe blue tile below the pool and let the water overflow down the tile.

I actually think it's kind of cool ... Certainly more interesting than the typical Baker Barrios architecture we get downtown. The long, horizontal lines evoke a mid-century feel without seeming overtly retro.

The wall-to-wall windows of each guest room make me think of the Standard in NY (although I'm sure there won't be as many "shows" for pedestrians on the street in our little burg.) [emoji4]
