  1. Orlando Ballet, Dr. Phillips Center reach deal on Steinmetz Hall https://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/arts-and-theater/os-et-dr-phillips-center-opera-ballet-philharmonic-deal-20191022-k2vutmj5wfd33pq476penscx6q-story.html "Opera Orlando and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra are still in discussions, an arts-center spokeswoman said, but “we anticipate signing agreements with them soon.” Great news!!
  2. You prob already know this, but Space Mountain was supposed to be completely re-tracked back in 2009 when it went down for its last big refurb, but that got the axe due to the recession. I have been thinking that once TRON opens, Disney will have no excuse not to close Space Mountain and do a proper full ride system replacement. If they do, I would want either a straight track replacement of our existing 2- track layout with modern track and trains with audio, or swap out the entire interior with the exact ride Disneyland has (even though it wouldn't utilize all the space). I'd be good with either of those.
  3. ...it wasn't zoned for Edgewater High....
  4. You've been since the renovation? There was nothing horrible about the bathrooms when I went.
  5. Independence Lane in Maitland will be Park Ave II if they can keep re-developing south of Packwood and end at Lake Lily.
  6. They will play in the NFL stadiums. They simply roll out temporary natural grass over the artificial turf. They did this at the Citrus Bowl (which is also artificial turf BTW) for the Mexico vs Costa Rica game in 2015.
  7. Totally agree, maybe even have it on both sides of the plaza connected via skybridge.
  8. Modera is boring, but is it not coming from a replicated template like Skyhouse is it?
  9. This hit the Sentinel yesterday: Tower in downtown Orlando could get $4M in incentives http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-tower-incentives-church-street-orlando-20170627-story.html
  10. I don't think so, I was agreeing with you.
  11. It must be the case, otherwise why keep building hotels. It will become even more of a singular destination once they develop the huge 475 acre piece of land they purchased near the convention center. No doubt it will be a 3rd theme park along with its own resorts and entertainment. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/tourism/os-universal-land-purchase-20160205-story.html
  12. So help me envision this...the hotel will basically be surrounded by a landscaped wall on all sides?
  13. This is insanity. In 2010, my wife and I had a 1320 sq ft 2/2 at the Paramount for $1650. Granted that was during the recession, but this is almost half the size unit for the same price.
  14. Some of them are doing loans like Trustco Bank. They have stipulations that the building/complex must be 75% owner occupied, that it is not an apartment conversion, and the association is not in debt. The other option is to go with an FHA loan which will finance condos, but you have to pay PMI with those. Something like these lofts though...not sure how they would be treated.
  15. All I can say is that I am glad that I grew up in the 70s, 80s, and 90s going to malls, music stores, video rental stores, electronics stores, etc. I will always have those memories. It's tough watching it all die. I guess I will always have this thing in my pocket, though, right?
  16. Just so everyone is on the same page, the link above is a new development from Inflight Dubai going to I-drive 360. iFLY is also re-locating to I-drive next to Wonderworks. There are going to be TWO indoor skydiving facilities 1 mile apart: http://www.indoorskydivingsource.com/news/ifly-orlando-to-close-new-facility-to-open-in-2017/ Orlando, and I-Drive specifically has been busy with indoor skydiving announcements as of late. Also announced this week were more details on another 14 foot single sided recirculating wind tunnel. This tunnel is not an iFLY tunnel however and instead is being built by new Dubai-based wind tunnel manufacturer Extreme Flight. This location is called Extreme Flight Orlando and the project site sits only 1 mile away from the new iFLY Orlando location.
  17. I made that left from Central onto Lake Ave on Sunday, and what an impressive street wall it has become! Can't wait for 520 to complete the South Eola area.

    SunRail

This statement mentions a SunRail connection as well as light rail to I-drive, but doesn't explicitly say the light rail is what is going to connect the airport station to SunRail. Should I assume the light rail service to I-drive is going to hit the Sand Lake Road SunRail stop before continuing on to I-drive?
  19. I don't know why people are saying this location is so small compared to the OMA. Below is a quick and dirty overlay, to scale, of the OMA sitting on top of that corner. I let the front hang over Robinson a bit, but you can see where a slight reconfiguration of the footprint of OMA it could fit entirely into that corner taking over the parking lot areas. They could build a new parking deck on the same spot as the old one with a pedestrian bridge over Robinson.

    College Park

LOL, this is so true. Downtown Maitland City Centre put up their concrete monolith garage looming high and people are going nuts like that will be the finished product.
  21. I like the design. True it is shaped like Lucerne, but this has nice looking modern elements. It's better than 420 or Modera Central IMO. The ground-level pool exposed to the street is a little too old school though.
  22. So the theme park rumor might have some legs, wow. It was said to be a national amusement park brand. Cedar Fair and Six Flags are really the only two big names in the game that aren't already here. I am really hoping it is Cedar Fair. If it ends up being either of these brands, it would be absolutely huge news. I don't see how they could incorporate the cinema and Bass Pro though.
  23. South Eola definitely had a run of Miami-styled condos. The Waverly is the most obvious, which set out to be a Miami-style luxury apartment when it was built. Then the same developer built the Paramount, also citing Miami's art deco influence. Then you have Eola South Condominium: And the Sanctuary:
  24. Yeah, I don't know why I said 28.5. I was just responding to that post to mention that the standing section doesn't allow for an increase in capacity and I used the same number he did.
  25. 28.5K is the total capacity including the standing sections.
