  1. I've been going to Edgewater / Shine / Paramount for years, all smaller stores with a more affordable options. This is the same concept as Ecco plaza, without the beer. It'll be good for a quick shop, but won't be my everyday grocery store.
  2. This is now the closet Publix to me. I've been a couple of times, and the selection seems more limited, with generally only more expensive products available.
  3. The Downtown nightclub moratorium ends in September, but I wouldn't be surprised if they extend it again.
  4. Looks like the annexation is part of the same project. https://www.orlando.gov/Building-Development/Planning-Zoning-Approvals/View-Open-Development-Applications/1411-Clark-St.-Annexation-and-Master-Plan
  5. United Arts posted a new Creative Placemaking Director role this week, funded by DDB/CRA. https://unitedartscfl.org/about/careers-volunteer/
  6. Also the stops in between! I was going to ride to a birthday weekend in FTL, but the airbnb we got wasn't as walkable to everywhere we wanted to go, so we ended up driving so we had the vehicle down there.
  7. For me, it was the massive blank garage walls. If they were wrapped by units to give a better connection to the ground level, I would be fine with it. These buildings need to give back to the ped experience, or we will end up with a bunch of islands in the sky that still aren't walkable and engaging.
  8. I don't remember the details, but at some point maybe a year or 18 months ago there was new activity on the permits. When I was ED at The Milk District, I tried getting in touch with the owners to see if they'd be open to a PD and plan amendment to include live/work units facing Bumby. Phone went to voicemail and email bounced. Hopefully this developer can get these built!
  9. So the question is.... will they be putting Kia soap in the bathrooms, or will Amway continue that sponsorship?
  10. Zymarium Meadery is opening next month at Mills and Lake Highland (old orange studio). I got to go to their first day of soft opening yesterday. The place is beautiful, I enjoyed learning about mead (something I'm new to) and it's going to be a great addition to the area, and the first business of its kind for the region.

Wasn't there also a proposal just north of the senior center? That makes three major residential projects on the south end of Lake Ivanhoe... finally, what we need to make Ivanhoe Village more connected into North Quarter.
  12. Storage only -- and more for personal storage for the owners, and less restaurant specific. But changes are coming.

My understanding is that it was recently taken off the market. Mold showed back up.
  14. City staff has floated a top-to-bottom streetscape project within the downtown CRA as part of larger revitalization efforts, specifically citing the piecemeal approach and costs associated with maintaining so many different types of fixtures, pavements, etc. Not sure if they'd tear everything out and start from the beginning, or bring some of the older areas up to the standard acorns and hexagonal pavers. We might see larger/modern tree wells and maybe even bioswales as part of the deal, as I know the same folks have expressed concern about our small tree wells and rainwater mitigation.
  15. Does anyone know what Rosen has built next to the UCF campus? Looks to be some offices and parking, with another building in the back with some kind of enclosure on the roof.
  16. The Milk District has some on FDOT roads now. Fun fact, we had to register as a "Local Place Name" with FDOT through County proclamation - much like an unincorporated community - to be able to include our logo/name on them. They're officially Customized Place Name Signs / Local ID Markers.
  17. Milk Stacks will break ground next Friday, 3/10, and there's a Milk District business after hours event to learn more about the project and meet the team. The project will bring 25 apartments and 2 live/work units to the NE corner of Bumby and Jackson. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/milk-mixer-milk-stacks-groundbreaking-edition-registration-560841902227 24x36-Milkstacks Apartments-Perspective View 2 (rear).pdf24x36-Milkstacks Apartments-Perspective View 1.pdf
  18. It's been almost four and a half years with the District, and I am moving on to new adventures! So happy with the growth that's occurred in my time here, the preservation of existing/legacy businesses, and the projects on the horizon. If you know anyone who'd be a good Executive Director, send them this link! https://the-milk-district-inc.breezy.hr/p/ec88d45a45b3-executive-director
  19. Orlando Lutheran Towers proposes new 21-story tower at downtown site The tower would replace the current "commons" building along Lake Ave and come with a garage. https://www.growthspotter.com/news/gs-news-lutheran-towers-20230125-bwayyiutkncwzco3tgdwrukzvu-story.html
  20. There is a 15000 and a 14000 sf retail space in this building, which would fit some smaller format concepts. The space along the tracks may be difficult for any tenant that's not a destination. https://retailproperties.cbre.us/p/retail-real-estate-listings/Orlando-FL-32801/societyorlando#highlights
  21. They're one and the same! They've been open with a very limited menu for a couple of recent Milk District events (Milk Mart yesterday and Krampusfest a couple weeks ago) and I've enjoyed everything there so far. Looking forward to dinner soon.
