Charlotte Skyline Shots

A couple of weeks ago we stayed at the Westin for the first night of our honeymoon (I got married recently as many of you already know). Had it not been our honeymoon I may have spent a little more time taking better photos but I'm luckily married to someone who actually encourages my hobbies!

Thanks! We did enjoy our stay though I will say I'm not sure what the fuss is about with their "heavenly" bath and bed because we didn't think they were that heavenly. I've slept better at two star hotels. The only thing that differentiated their showers was a shower head that had two heads on it. Everything else about the shower was the same as a two star hotel shower.

I agree. The original Wachovia Tower (the one built in 1974, with gold windows) seems like a real classic to me. Generally I dislike the International Style, but there is a marked classicism about this building:)

Strangely enough, this building got the BOB award in Charlotte Magazine as the biggest architectural eyesore in Charlotte.

I love it! Great pics. I personally think the original Wach Tower contributes much needed density and diversity to our skyline.

400 S. Tryon is an underrated tower. I've always liked it, even though it leaves much to be desired at street level.

I wonder if we would agree the original Wachovia is more attractive than the building currently known as Wachovia 2?

If asked my opinion,I would have to say the ATT building near the convention center is Uptown's ugly duckling.

oooo pretty park. While the concept of a second BoA may not be too far fetched, I doubt BoA will be coming along with a tower to match or beat the current crown. I'd rather be wrong though.

These are the same people who think that the Harris Teeter at Morrocroft is great architecture ("ooooh...it has a dome!")

I love the old Wachovia Center. Too bad the new ownership never followed through with their original plans for the upgrade of the building. They said they were going to change the exterior lighting to multi-colors fades (ala Bank of America in Miami). That would have been sweet!

I went to Charlotte yesterday to basically do some exploring. I went to Northlake, Uptown, South Park etc. Im not a good photographer but here are some I will show.....

Great shots No Neneck 08! I love the skyline shot going down I-77 south (especially coming Down the HOV lane around the I-77 and I-85 Interchange.)

That shot from 77 really shows how two dimensional uptown is. I hope that with the coming of the Vue, the arena pencil, and 210 there will at least be a little depth to the skyline.

Is that new building inserted that kinda looks like a prism suposed to become the 3rd tallest n the skyline? If so, that's a pretty cool looking building.

That'd be the new Wachovia tower and it'll actually be the new second tallest building... if something else doesn't get announced between now and then.
