I know this is urbanplanet and we love to see buildings rising, but man I went into deep thought about THIS Nashville in the above photos today and for just a bit I actually missed it. Life goes on and cities grow though.

Wild to think that before Pinnacle went up it had been over two decades since any significant alteration of the cityscape had taken place.

Everyone is down on Broadway Honky Tonking!

(Those two tall apartment towers are just beginning to take in any residents, and everything to the left of this image is a huge construction site. Not much reason to see pedestrians in this area right now.)

The top image is from a postcard I bought in the late eighties.  The second is a Fern Ave. shot I took in October 2020.  The third is a Fern Ave. shot I took March 2024.

TBT: With baseball season just underway, here's a look back at "Baseball's Most Historic Park," which was Sulphur Dell in the North Capital District in downtown Nashville. The site was first used for professional baseball in 1885, with the original beautiful wooden grandstands built in 1908. Then, in 1927 (when this photo was taken), concrete and steel were employed to build a more sturdy stadium to better withstand water, heat, and cold. It remained until 1969. In 2015, the modern First Horizon Park was opened at the same location, and the Nashville Sounds have been leading the nation in minor league baseball attendance nearly every year since then.
