Honestly couldn’t care less about a Sportsbook, I bet online as it is. I do think the city could’ve used it as a leverage point to get a portion of the proceeds from it, but alas our council members are spineless.

My observation from 150 miles away... is they're just not smart.  Not only are they dumb, but there are so so many of them... amazing to us in a place where our (Chattanooga) City Council is "all of" 9 members. Even if you multiply our number proportionally to our respective cities' populations, that would be equivalent to 30 Metro Council members.

Right, there will be no casino....but the sports book is a sure bet...pardon the pun.  As someone else said, they're building these next door to arenas and stadiums in states that have legalized sports betting.  The BET MGM sports book at Nationals Park in D.C. is connected to the baseball stadium.

this is kinda creepy

I don’t have a problem with it. If the Titans lobbyists are going to have this much control over the mayor and council, everything they do should be out in the open. I know metro shot down a lot of open records requests related to the stadium.

I think casinos may be legalized in TN sooner rather than later. Kentucky now has gambling halls offering slots and poker rooms right across the border. Mississippi obviously has Tunica and Biloxi. Bristol VA now has a Hard Rock .25 miles from the TN border. Cherokee is right across the NC border. Metropolis/Paducah has a casino 2.5 hours away. Southern Indiana Caesars is 2.5 hours away. Evansville is about the same.  Money from TN is flowing out into these other states. Very similar to how it was before the lottery was legalized.

If I’m not mistaken, casinos aren’t legal on land in Mississippi (unless ive been out of the loop for a while). All of the casinos in Tunica and Biloxi are built on barges on bodies of water. And also, hasn’t Memphis had casino boats for a while?

Just because you don’t have a problem with it doesn’t make it any less creepy.

Imagine the supporters doing the same thing to the non-supporters. That wouldn’t be okay either.

Difference is the non-supporters aren’t trying to shove a billion dollar plus “deal” down the taxpayers throat. Also, clearly the non-supporters have zero sway with any of the council members. The pro side spoke for all of an hour tonight and the anti side will be shut down at two hours with more people wanting to speak.

Definitely creepy, and I believe it’s a invasion of privacy. Not everything needs to be out in the open, and and if someone took a snapshot of my phone, I would press charges. It’s just not right.

Ugh!!! I haven't seen one benefit from the Titans being here.

It's so sad when you drive downtown and see all the homeless people,  zero infrastructure improvements,  zero mass transit, but we sure can go watch a bunch of grown men run up and down a patch of grass after a ball.

I hope they lose every game they play in the new stadium.  A losing team will eventually result in low attendance and eventually the Titans will go away.

It's good to note Delisha Porterfield was opposed, and only voted in favor so that she would be allowed to make a "motion to reconsider." This was botched by Vice Mayor Shulman's confusion. Multiple CM's requests to be recognized created preventable chaos. Kathleen Murphy challenged Shulman's approval of Porterfield's motion to reconsider.  Legal dept recommended a vote to resolve the dispute. It was left to the council to decide Shulman's approval of Porterfield's motion vs Murphy's challenge to Shulman (and not allow Porterfield's motion). The CM's supporting the stadium all voted against Porterfield's motion to reconsider, by way of voting for Murphy's challenge. Total poo show.

*If the motion to reconsider had succeeded, the Metro Council would have been required to have another vote in June.
