This article is about the flight to quality office buildings and quotes Riverside VP about trophy projects.

Read what he says.

Trophy Office Space Is Hot. What Will It Take To Build More? (bisnow.com)

Sounds like Uptown needs new office buildings to respond to the flight to quality trend, including at 7th & Tryon and elsewhere.

Hmm we have a lot of office space that is old and not in demand. It’s expensive to convert it to anything else, but less so to renovate for office use. Seems to me like the solution would be to just completely renovate these empty towers to the highest current standard to meet this “flight to quality”. Except that’s too obvious a solution, so why exactly is the media assigning this exodus to quality? I think the idea of a shiny, new building in likely a shinier, newer area is what is most appealing, or something else. And if it is quality, then why not just renovate existing space?

this marketing video shows the office tower about the height of the apartment building and says 4th quarter 2025 delivery.

1111 South Tryon — Riverside Investment & Development (riversideid.com)

maybe there is nothing new here but this video has a new ending with the delivery date.

There is no scenario where an office tower delivers in 2025, so don't be using that as an indication of anything

The area around this building will eventually be redeveloped with height, so this building will blend with its neighbors over time.

Right, unless you don’t want any height at all you have to start somewhere. The first high rise in any area sticks out like a sore thumb. Like the new tower on Morehead and the soon to be built tower at the Met. Lowes Tower used to stick out too.
