Survey crews have been out there working the last two days I have driven past.  Tons of survey tape and markers going up.  You can see it all along 253 as you drive by.

Porta Potty and some construction equipment on the Old Buncombe Road side where the old plant is. Road closed signs up along Brooks Avenue also in the project site area. We shall see.

I would love to see this succeed wildly with creative land use and architecture. I am sympathetic to gentrification concerns....but the answer is not to leave a blighted area alone to preserve dirt cheap housing.

Just more info and renderings on this.

I can't fathom how the city isn't insistent that this be annexed. I know it is not quite adjacent but it's not far from the current city limits. There has to be a way to get this into the city limits; whether through finger annexation or something else. It would be an enormous miss on many fronts, and would probably be harder to do later after the development and residential.

Good point!

Link to the initial phase Site Plan review.  Looks like first phase will be apartments

Wow. That looks like every other suburban apartment complex.  Very disappointed and a huge letdown. Was expecting something more along the lines of County Square at least when it came to the site layout. :( Looks nothing like the renderings we have seen previously either. No point in even taking drone pics of this site now. They don’t deserve it for screwing us over like this.

Yup.. this is the area on the original vision where this multifamily is located. Pretty sad lol, as this is an area of the development that is very important to be mixed use due to its location along the SRT.  If this goes forward, this is a golden example of why the county sucks at controlling sprawl growth and as much land needs to be annexed by the city as possible.

At least the roofs are pitched and not flat like every other apartment complex built in Greenville county for the last 10 years. That's progress I guess.

Ahhh…yes. The old lipstick on a pig approach. I’d rather have flat roofs and the old renderings/site plans than this. Just another suburban sprawl apartment complex. Nothing special about this project at all anymore. Sad.
