Planning Commission will be denying this project only because the city council has to approve the right of way abandonments first. After that is done, it can come back to the planning commission for approval. DRB recommends changing the architecture and colors of the buildings also.

I would expect the city staff would have informed them of that from the initial meetings.  It also seems out of order. If the project itself isn't approved, then the abandonments are needed. Any permits for the project should be conditioned on approval of both the abandonments and the project itself.

That’s a shame…the area needs development. It’s in close proximity to the new county square development…something  attractive will happen down the road.

Hopefully it gets a tombstone in the future graveyard on the gateway site. :D Sure gonna be a lot of tombstones on that site.

YMCA and First Baptist join to partner in Project Aspire

I've long thought a project like this would be ideal for the Stone family property south of County Square.  The land is quite large, the topography can 'hide' several floors of  mid or high rise buildings. It is centrally located and within walking distance of the West End and short driving distance to Prisma.

This looks nice from the aerial perspective that they're providing, and, at first glance, better than the apartment proposal that was previously proposed. Happy to see more residential coming to Church Street, especially within walking distance to County Square.

40 unites seems pretty tight for that lot; however, LOVE that the exterior will only be brick and limestone. Classic and timeless.

Some great landscaping could really make a difference.

I guess they'll market the place when there aren't games playing at Sirrine Stadium. I have no idea why the school doesn't put the speakers lower and face them toward the fans. Instead, they're placed very high above the stadium and face / broadcast to the surrounding neighborhood. You can probably hear the music and play-by-play better on the surrounding streets than in the stadium.

This project is moving forward and will be breaking ground later this year. Official name is now Biltmore Walk.
