Here's the full e-mail from Nashville SC to its supporters that goes into more detail of the tweet above.  Takin' it to the people!

BUILD THE STADIUM Help us keep Major League Soccer in Nashville   Well.   We put it all on the table to bring Major League Soccer to Nashville.   Metro agreed to build a new soccer stadium.  Commitments were made.  A great Community Benefits Agreement was signed with affordable housing and childcare.   When Mayor John Cooper said city dollars were tight … we said okay.   Because, during his campaign, Mayor Cooper said:   “I’m trying to be very clear about this to everybody. We voted for soccer and now soccer has to be a success, …  At this point, we have to make what’s there work out. That is going to require a lot of creativity.” So, we got creative:   We offered to be responsible for the total cost of the stadium. We will cover all stadium costs.  ALL OF IT. We offered to pay an additional $19 Million to Metro for infrastructure in the immediate vicinity of the stadium.  We offered to give back $35-million Metro promised to pay in the original deal. We are providing more than fair value for the 10 acres at the fairgrounds, including affordable housing and child care -- $26 Million worth. (We note that during the campaign, the Mayor made affordable housing a centerpiece issue.)  We told the Mayor we are willing to modify designs for the 10-acre site to accommodate future racing possibilities.  And, if built, this property will generate more than $1.5 million a year in property taxes versus zero dollars today. Ha right. Cooper always thinks he's the smartest person in the room. Those people signing the petition just don't have the depth to understand his genius. He'll never be phased by this kind of thing - although I applaud doing it as I hope it continues to raise overall awareness of what a maniac Cooper is.

I may be biased, but I don't think it's wise to turn this into a soccer vs. racing issue. There's no reason Nashville SC and SMI (or another speedway operator) can't coexist at the Fairgrounds.

I agree. I would focus on the concessions Nashville SC has made, and the commitment to the CBA.

I think the wildcard in all of this is a *detailed* plan from SMI.

These are my concerns if I'm Nashville SC:

-Cooper hasn't offered up any alternatives (that we know of) for parcel 8C.

-Cooper states that he wants 8C to be a plaza to connect the venues, but SMI has stated in the past that they want it redesignated for racetrack use. If you give up that parcel, can Cooper then change his mind and give it to the racetrack?

-Nashville SC is offering to pay for infrastructure improvements....what is SMI offering? 

-Nashville SC is offering to essentially take the taxpayer burden away....what is SMI offering?

 

As much as John Ingram wants to get this done, I doubt he wants to turn into a sucker and end up literally paving the way for SMI to move in get a bigger sweetheart deal by riding his development's coattails. 

Also, for all of the talk of "Ingram is a billionaire -- why can't he just do this all on his own?"....Bruton Smith of SMI is a billionaire as well. I wonder if the race crowd will hold him to the same standard if he asks for public funds?

Court filing: Nashville could lose its soccer team if it doesn't hit this construction deadline.Filings submitted Friday by Nashville SC officials revealed the team must begin stadium construction by March 31, or league officials could pull the team from Nashville. The previously undisclosed deadline was included in Nashville SC's motion to intervene in pending litigation filed by the group Save Our Fairgrounds that seeks to block the stadium's construction. That lawsuit is now slated to go to trial.

I absolutely cannot believe that we've devolved to lawsuits because Cooper can't extract his cranium from his rear end. Here's to hoping this doesn't completely torpedo soccer in Nashville.

I believe World Cup is selecting their cities in March, and I don't see an agreement made before March 31st...

Hopefully FIFA sees the location of Nissan and Broadway as a tourist hot spot and they focus on that as opposed to other cities with stadiums far out in the burbs.

I'm still learning the sport, but this trade is getting tons and tons of praise from fans and the media. This is the type of thing I expected when learning of the Ayres hiring, just awesome work.

Now we just need to make sure he has a home to play in.
