Let’s not conflate issues. I think the city leadership has done an AMAZING job with the city. The urban planning is second to none that I think of. However, I think the developers built an uglier and cheaper version of what was expected. Because Greenville sets the bar so high, results like this stand out for missing the mark. So do not relate my disappointment in this project with the city at large.

I too have been in real estate my entire adult life. I am comfortable with my opinion on aesthetics.

I don’t blame leadership. I suspect they expected better as did we all. I would also wager that if asked privately they would admit to severe disappointment in the actual outcome.

Today is April 15, 2023 and The McLaren is still a blight on the Greenville skyline.

At least the plant store won't have loud drunks outside at 2 am! But Chicora Alley has no shortage of them.

Power lines are an eyesore in many parts of downtown.....but no easy or cheap solution

Maybe....but other projects can seemingly move a far better pace. I asked my builder this morning about supply chain and he said it was largely OK.

How is it that after an eternity of construction, the exterior cladding and balconies are STILL NOT FINISHED? It is butt ugly but at least finish it.

I used to fly on Dash 8's out of a small regional airport. It was so loud.....like a flying lawnmower.

I hope I’m wrong but the new event space in the former Pour seems half assed. They have framed interior walls over windows. The new exterior wood trim is shoddy. Hate to see that.

Moton I generally agree with your posts. But we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one. A tactical nuke should be dropped on this building. Raze it and start over…,which obviously is not happening. It’s a stain on an otherwise impressive slate of new projects.

How did GSP win that award? I assumed from reading this forum that GSP was the biggest failure of an airport in the Southeast?

As someone who does not view gentrification as evil, there are many area in close proximity to downtown Greenville that will change dramatically over the next decade or two. Even though Greenville has had quite the building boom, there is so much room to expand....particularly towards the west.

Airlines don’t plan routes and commit resources because you or a handful of people want an annual jaunt to Alaska or Canada. Where demand is present the commitment will follow. It’s Econ 101.

Maybe if you demonstrate that you have managed the capital and logistics to run an airline we might heed your opinions. Otherwise you sound like a teenager having a tantrum and should STFU.

My wife prays every day that it burns to the ground. Just a truly hideous building. It does look like cheap inferior construction. And unfortunately so prominently exposed on Academy. I look at it every day and think "why"?
