I’m skeptical about the architecture on the new proposal.

I guess Roxx is no longer pursuing their rooftop bar expansion? https://www.postandcourier.com/greenville/business/smileys-to-make-west-end-return-in-partnership-with-longtime-greenville-bar/article_aa4b28ae-436e-11ee-83d6-1b9166321b34.html#newsletter-popup
  3. This building looks to be nearing occupancy despite a section of cladding missing along the top. I think the reason p!$$ poor architecture bothers me so much is the lasting impact. And the half assed architecture could have been salvaged with exceptional construction. But alas…the quality seems to match the subpar architecture. A shame….a giant skyline imposing shame.

Curious to see how this fares against the two new music venues at the Peace Center

The new Matador in Husk and the Agave Bandido in County Square will be competing for the upscale Mexican restaurant crowd. May the best tequila win!

  7. You had me at upscale Mexican food and golf simulators.
  8. Whatever happened to the renovation of Carolina Ale House with a new ground level tenant?
  9. Hopefully it turns out better than the former Army-Navy building.
  10. Excellent architecture wins....I am looking at you McClaren

Does anyone have an update on the former Husk space?
  12. Gentrification is a very delicate issue. But it is hard to argue that improving the quality of investment in a community is a bad thing. It raises the asset value for all owners. And social engineering rarely works and is typically worse than market forces. Renters are likely the most negatively impacted, but to be honest rent inflation is a widespread problem.
  13. A developer can still find financing in Greenville for office space, but Fifth Third Bank as an example has suspended all office lending nationwide. Some banks do not want to get overweighted in any asset class in general and they watch the national trends. Some cities have such a glut of office space that they offer tax incentives for conversion to residential.
  14. Ahhh.....apologies for misinterpreting your reply.
  15. How do my comments about dislike of the architecture have anything to do with "inclusivity"? Stop reaching to twist the comment into something it is not. That is insulting.
  16. You are paying a premium for the unparalleled architectural splendor <sarcasm intended>

Well....I am an avid consumer of adult beverages in many of our fantastic downtown establishments. And I manage to do that without public drunkenness, smoking weed by the back door, yelling, or fighting. I am sorry to hear that you support that activity because "that is what people do at bars". I am no stranger to having fun. But some places do not seem to care about bad behavior. I guess anyone living downtown is expected to tolerate a free for all?

Well not everyone is the genius that you are. Now go back to obsessing over tower cranes.

  21. Buses do not solve the I-85 issue.....that is going to be a complex solution if one exists
  22. Given the price paid for the land, one would think the developers would press for height and density for financial reasons.
  23. I’ve never been shy about spending on food and drink, but holy cow the Larkins menu prices are aggressive. $60 for sea bass? $30 salads. Coral was too full to get in but Larkins was empty. Now I know why.
  24. Malls everywhere are struggling. Retail has evolved into smaller boutique stores and online shopping. I suspect County Square will get a mix of nice boutique shops just like downtown has.
  25. https://upstatebusinessjournal.com/square-feet/greenville-county-square-welcomes-the-perch-kitchen-tap-as-first-restaurant-tenant/ This will likely be a nice addition but having two new restaurants in town both named 'Perch' is not ideal.
