  1. or CATS can expand the trains to 3 carriages and run more frequently. Oh hang on... its CATS ...
  2. You are right. Just researched it and "The flashing red indicates to drivers that they are to stop and yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk, and can proceed once pedestrians are clear." https://safety.fhwa.dot.gov/ped_bike/tools_solve/fhwasa14014/ I always waited, but now I know. Just saved myself 30 seconds!
  3. There is one outside the YWCA on Park Road too. I've observed people wait during the 30 sec cycle and people proceeding. Nobody seems to know what to do. A lot of confusion which is a danger.
  4. Thanks. They seem to update their feed after the fact. I can't find anything listing upcoming scheduling.
  5. Question rather than a comment. Anyone know where i could find a list that has the scheduled lighting schemes for events on uptown buildings? Thanks
  6. I hear Bentleys on 27th will be closing in the Charlotte Plaza building and are planning to reopen in South Park Piedmont Town Center.
  7. Mmh, Blacow Burgers are great. Only had them at the Moo and Brew festival last year, but they won best burger!
  8. How many parking spaces will this have? 9 of the 16 floors will be office. Are the others parking and for who? Seems like a lot for a development adjacent to light rail.
  9. Is this solely a tower on Tyron and parking deck on College. No Hotel?
  10. I do agree, and your vision is what i want to happen, but developers seems to be focused on office right now, presumably as that is where the money is, and that is how older cities have panned out over the years. Only more people residing in Uptown will attract retail and some more entertainment. We really need condos and cheaper apartments (but I'm aware of the complexities of trying to achieve both) to build a Live, Work, Play, environment.
  11. Why not let the core of Uptown be all office with retail only to support M-F workers? Southend could become the designated shopping / entertainment district. When I think of other financial districts London (the City), Toronto (Bay Street), and NY (Wall Street) are all office only areas, with adjoining areas giving life outside of M-F office hours. Just a thought!
  12. I believe the McDonalds is just being renovated and will reopen. Not sure about the rest of the site.
  13. I really like this idea, and shouldn't be to difficult too implement. I do wonder about SouthPark???
  14. From University City Partners FB page
  15. Was this not sold in 2017 and is being land banked by Linden Thomas? Or is it for sale again?
  16. Not very exciting but construction signage up for Jimmy Johns going in beside Sabor on the corner of 6th and College. Would have preferred a Viva Chicken here but still something is better than nothing. Sabor looks ready but not open yet.
  17. Aren't the Gold line streetcars going to be replaced by light rial, similar to the Blue line, once the construction ends? Then these areas will be serviced by a genuine transit option.
  18. Any movement on the old McDonalds location in the Overstreet mall? Saw what looked like interior planners inside the unit during the week. Same with the old hairdressers unit beside Starbuck in Charlotte Plaza. Anyone know who is moving in?
  19. City Council approved a zoning change last night. Is it still thought construction won't start till late 2019 or even 2020? I'm hopeful this will help trigger more redevelopment on the adjoining lots.
  20. Just seen that Babalu in Dilworth has closed. Will reopen in Waverly in Fall 2019. Is a year closed odd? Also, rumors that the Rogue has shut. Pity, it had great food and a good pint too.
  21. I know it was mentioned previously here, but maybe there is renewed hope for an all year round CLT - DUB flight. Irish airline is to expand with three new transatlantic flights. BoAs post Brexit moves to Dublin has increased this chance of happening. Aer Lingus to announce new transatlantic routes in weeks
  22. The breakaway group of doctors from Atrium, Tryon Medical Partners, are taking one of the floors in Charlotte Plaza, previously part of the Charlotte School of Law. I believe it will be the first new tenant since the schools closure. They are taking floor 12.
