No no. Put simply, most people don't have a mountain / lake house to run to on their work from home days. Most will work from their home, which again for most would be located somewhat close to their office. Not everyone has moved house since COVID. I discuss the common situation, not the extremes.

if you are working under a hybrid model, (home and office) i would think the BCP would dictate that any loss of power / internet at home would mean you would travel to the office. For fully remote workers, i would imagine any additional spend would be determined by seniority / need.

Which towers will they occupy? Did they vacate One Wells Fargo and will they take former Duke Tower? If so College Street will have a long stretch of little to no activity, Conference Center to Ritz has little going for it.

How is this in such bad shape? I remember it was damaged not too long after it was installed but that was maybe 3 years ago. It looks poorly on the city as you walk uptown to southend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anyone care to guess the crane count over the coming year vs the max crane count we had in the prior cycle? The boom is back.

Its only beginning, lets not talk about it ending. But Ballantyne is already planned for more highrise density. UC would be good and I would like to see Pineville. Both UC and Pineville have good transport access and available land.

I'm curious too. Has the new Strawn development allowed for widening?

I'm not going to get too excited about the greenery. Wasn't it Graystar that dismally failed with the greenery on the Ascent tower in Uptown? That said, i do like their buildings.

Is there a downside on these larger building along Camden? Will they cast the street into eternal shade making a nice walkable area less attractive?

Intel would have been nice. They have a large operation outside of Dublin so would have bolstered the CLT to DUB route, which I have a selfish interest in.

Was it Intel? https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/21/intel-plans-20-billion-chip-manufacturing-site-in-ohio.html

Isn't there a second battery announcement today... south of Greensboro?

Article is from 2012, but I guess his thinking is the same today.

Apart from the Lincoln Harris build, are any of the 60 proposed towers for SouthPark area? Specifically is the residential tower on Fairview opposite the mall still on?

@tarhoosier and @kermit thanks guys. Fascinating stuff. I moved here in 2013 and lived on W Tremont. How it has changed since them, but extraordinary transformation since the time you describe. Many thanks for documenting. Charlotte does deserve its own museum for this stuff.

For us newer to Charlotte, roughly how long long ago was this. Impressed with Southend's endless change

I don't know who would be the decision maker on I277 and if an elected official or not. But I can't see an elected official voting to remove something that many would have the perception (rightly or wrongly) helps traffic flow, and sell the land to developers who would profit greatly off it. That elected official would never be voted in again. For that reason, I277 will remain. -

You are doing it wrong. You need to mix it with Jäger.

Biz Journal article. Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse to close this month in South End https://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2021/06/09/off-broadway-to-closing-south-end-location.html Will this building be replaced? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree. I don't like the tower portion of this, but do appreciate the ground level and possible interactions with the public along 1st Ward Park side. That said, what I don't like, others love and that is ok. May be when the tower is surrounded by similar height towers, it will begin to blend, but for now, it sticks out, and not in a good way.
