  1. I'll post pics when I can, but I was just in Portland, OR, and they are serious about MLB expansion. While I don't see it being successful, they are much further along then Nashville is. They have a store selling MLB to PDX merchandise across the street from their MLS stadium (which is lovely and in the heart of an urban district with no parking but access to two light rail lines). What was odd to me is that I don't believe the city currently has MiLB.
  2. When did Abercrombie & Fitch and Abercrombie Kids leave the mall? I remember them being there around '08 or so?
  3. If you take the hour drive south on the 5 to San Diego I'll gladly give you a tour of America's Finest City. Same goes for any other UP-ers who make a trip out West.
  4. I agree with you. The Oakland A's/Raiders come to mind also and I'm curious how they manage the grass there during football season. My hope is that the University of Memphis and the USL club can get a joint facility built on the Park Ave Campus or somewhere else close to the university. NOT out in Collierville.
  5. Great photos! Soccer mathes have really torn up the grass at AutoZone Park, one of the best MiLB ballparks deserves better grass than that.
  6. There was a very well done article a couple of months ago about the Stadium Inn and the community (mostly homeless/transient) it serves. I believe it was in the Post. It was mostly utilized by transients who could scrounge up enough money for a weeks rent and people who were down on their luck and came to Nashville in search of work. The article painted the owners to be donkeys but the building served a positive purpose for a specific demographic of people, it'll be interesting to see where that crowd migrates to next. Anyway, I doubt you really want to see inside of any of those rooms in person.
  7. The University of Memphis is gaining a lot of momentum, there have been several consecutive years of record level donations. I expect to see a lot of construction on and around campus over the next several years.
  8. What stands put to me is the support columns appear to be wrapped in led screens! Hopefully that happens next off season. As far as our new scoreboard goes, I like its uniqueness.
  9. This is absolutely amazing. I was hoping for a site near the Liberty Bowl that incorporated the Mid South Coliseum, but this is better than what I hoped.
  10. Terminal 2 is one of my favorite terminals, easy to navigate, state of the art, and the gates are very close to the entrance. Another plus is that the TSA lines are always short. I watched the US-Belgium World Cup match at Stone Brewing in that terminal. Terminal 1, however, is third world.
  11. Here in San Diego, they opened up an Amazon Bookstore in one of the malls about a year ago. It's basically a smaller Barnes and Noble. This is probably what this brick and mortar store is going to be, especially if it's going up in Green Hills Mall.
  12. Boston, and Toronto this year. LA and Chicago have done it in the past. And I'm sure NYC has before.
  13. I love the sight of the buildings peeking over the trees on the hill!
  14. I spent a lot of time looking at the above photo to see where 1,200 new seats are. Is it all above the fan zone? It looks like SRO. I know Scotiabank arena in Toronto has SR0 above the upper seating decks, they ran $110 for the second to final home game of the season this year. I've always thought that if expansion was possible it would take place on the south end. My hope is that they wrap the two VU support columns with digital boards like the ones at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta and Ford Field in Detroit. Anyway this deal is a win win for the Predators and Metro. I've been to about 15 different NHL/NBA arenas and Bridgestone Arena is the one of the nicest I've been in, It would be awesome to still be able to say that 30 years from now. Side note: FedExForum in Memphis is just behind Bridgestone in "niceness" as well, in my opinion.
  15. It'd be VERY tough for us to get an NBA team as long as the Grizzlies are in Memphis. Plus there's more cities, I believe, we'd have to beat out that aren't in the conversation for MLB. Seattle, Hampton Roads VA, San Diego, KC, St Louis, and Louisville. Most of those cities also have NBA ready arenas. In all honesty, I think we should be happy to go to Grizzlies games in Memphis and Memphians should be happy coming here for Predators/Titans games.
  16. I was in Toronto at the beginning of the month and they have light rail between the airport and downtown called the Union-Pearson express. The train departs every fifteen minutes and there are two stops in between. It's a 23 minute trip one way and cost $12 Canadian. The train ended at Union Station in the heart of downtown Toronto where there were connections to the local subway, light rail, buses, and heavy commuter rail. There were several people who got on and off at the two stops in between. Something like that may work well in Nashville but the downtown terminus has to be convenient and central so people could walk to their hotel/office in minutes. If light rail in Nashville begins with the airport link, it must be done right because it will be the either the catalyst or deterrent for future light rail in the city.
  17. I don't know, I had friends over to watch the draft and everyone was blown away by the crowd shots. I would've thought it was closer to 200k from television. I'm obviously no expert in crowd estimations but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night, haha. Despite how many people were there, this is an incredibly impressive showing for the city. ESPN personalities have been raving about Nashville the last few days, and more people may be considering Nashville as their next vacation after all of this publicity. Side note: I'm a huge NFL fan and the ONLY reason I watched this draft is because it's in Nashville, I usually watch the first pick then go about my evening. I'm shocked people travel from across the country to watch the draft in person no matter where it's located.
  18. The Patterson House was my favorite bar in Nashville up until I moved. I really hope it remains. Wasn't there a small fine dining restaurant on the second level? If so, is it still there? I think it was called Catbird Seat
  19. Paul, what kind of drone do you have? I'm hoping to get one before I come back to Nashville in August. I've been researching DJI the past couple of weeks.
  20. I stayed in a Park MGM in Vegas right after it was renovated from being a Monte Carlo. Pretty Nice, albeit standard hotel room. The lobby and check in areas were first rate, which is to be expected in Vegas. I wonder how much the rooms will cost, my room in Vegas was around $70 a night, which included a discount for being an MGM rewards member. Vegas has some of the lowest hotel rates in the country during the off season, but $70 was a steal. Will be interesting to see their room rates in Nashville.
  21. ^^ one of my favorite pictures I've ever seen of Nashville. Great shot!
