  1. Nashville suburbs, northern Virginia are hiring hotbeds As we already knew, Williamson County is adding more jobs (by percentage) than anywhere else in the country.
  2. Hoping the (possible) opening of one here could lead to the Roots doing a show here. I know they're not affiliated but Questlove dj's at Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn quite often.
  3. I love the painting of that lady. She looks like Blake Lively
  4. A friend sent me a video of that last night. It was very cool.
  5. Have we ever had a proposal for a lot (Turnberry office tower) scrapped and shortly thereafter get a proposal for a TALLER, arguably, more attractive building for the same lot?
  6. That's a very interesting read, I remember there was a lot of fuss when they "textured" the pavement in 09. In San Diego, I-15 and parts of I-5 have a similar grooved pavement. Their pavement isn't subject to freezing like here but it is subject to heavy traffic and it's in very good shape after, I would assume, 10-15 years so far. I will say, from experience in SD and in Nashville, that those grooves do nothing to prevent pooling water on the roads. One suggestion, as far as our roads as a whole are considered, that I'm not sure has been discussed on this board are express lanes on 24 and 65. Forgive me if this has already been discussed. Express lanes that I am talking about are essentially toll roads in the median of the freeway. The tolls change depending on the congestion on the main lanes of the freeway. Bus and HOV vehicles may use the express lanes for free. the fees collected from the express lane are earmarked for maintenance/upkeep for ONLY THE SECTION OF FREEWAY THAT THE EXPRESS LANES EXISTS, therefore state road funds could be diverted to other roads. This has already paid for itself in San Diego and the sections of road where express lanes exists are very beautifully landscaped and maintained. I know California is a different beast than Nashville but it's something that should be considered as an option. Once again, I apologize if this has been discussed before.
  7. As fast as this project has gone up I feel they'll have to turn on the jets if it's going to be ready by early next year.
  8. I think the design looks ok for what it is. But a 16 story limit for that area is silly
  9. I noticed that when I was downtown over the weekend. I thought it looked pretty cool.
  10. Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere, but a friend of mine who works at Up rooftop bar on top of the Fairfield Inn said that the Thompson will feature a rooftop bar and lounge as well. He said the people associated with the new bar had been in Up a lot in the fall seeing what might and might not work for their bar. If it's anything like Up, it should be another first class option in the Gulch.
  11. I actually don't mind it. I'd prefer the modern looking, glass ones currently going up in San Diego and Los Angeles, but I think this may look okay once it's completed.
  12. http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/real-estate/2015/12/07/100-room-six-story-hotel-planned-near-brentwood/76937396/ Interesting design. Looks like a building you'd see on a college campus, though.
  13. I was in ABQ over the summer and thought the bridges there were well done and fit in with the area. What you don't see in those pictures is the very nice landscaping (mostly underneath the stack interchange and other interchanges in downtown ABQ).
  14. The other day I was thinking about the discussions many on the board had about how uninviting the bridges at 12th ave, Division, and Demonbreun are to pedestrians. I remembered several underpasses on Interstate 75 between Cincinnati and Dayton with fencing that I thought were attractive. I assume the fencing in the second photo was added after the bridge was built. I'm no civil engineer, but I would think this would be a rather cost effective way to add another physical barrier between people on the bridge and the traffic below. I wouldn't think it'd require mare than maybe a couple of weeks of night lane closures to drill holes in the existing concrete barrier for the iron fence posts. With that being said, I would also assume that it is getting close to the point where we need to completely replace those bridges anyway. Weren't they built the same year that the bridges we're currently replacing were built? Also idk why my legend says Chicos on the top right, never stepped foot inside one nor have I ever searched the store online haha.
  15. I still cannot believe how quickly Skyhouse is coming along
  16. I remember reading an article in The Tennessean about 10 years ago about major concerts and tours skipping over Music City. Then, soon after, the Preds were rumored to be looking to move elsewhere... And now Bridgestone is the second busiest arena in the country. Major props to everyone involved. Funny how things change.
  17. Another dining option coming to the Gulch: Chattanooga's Milk & Honey coming to the Gulch
  18. I wonder how/if this will affect possible future retail tenants at the old CC site? Surely they're not going for the same clientele? Hopefully this project will have some height.
