  1. Yes, but there is a huge backlog in the state communicating with individual employers. Most likely, they wont get "caught" until later on this year or in 2021, at which point they'll have to repay their unemployment benefits.
  2. In California, state unemployment is $450 + $600 federal. My job opened back up about three weeks ago and we've had a tough time staffing up since most of our employees (ages 18-25) are content sitting at home collecting $1050 a week to do nothing. By law, we had to offer everyone their job back before looking for new employees and I'd say about 60-70% said they don't want to come back just yet. They're going to be in for a surprise when federal money runs out and they're out of a job.
  3. Hopefully part of it will go towards new LED lights like the these These have been a growing trend at major sports stadiums. I know Petco Park in San Diego and Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa have similar LED lighting systems as the ones above. I would also assume the new stadiums coming on line in LA, Vegas, and Arlington, Texas have LED lights as well. With that being said, I'm not sure how likely it is that Metro will have $50,000,000 in this economy next year. Especially if the stadium hasn't hosted fans in over a year by then.
  4. I'd love to see that photo on a clear day like the Austin photo.
  5. Outside of some of those large office complexes in Cool Springs, there's a lot of quality development going on in Williamson County.
  6. I'm really curious to see the final product. I think it'll turn out to be a handsome building, but I think a W Hotel should be a little more imposing. I wish it was half as wide and twice the height, haha.
  7. Yeah, I've had several people tell me that taking off at John Wayne is the scariest moment they've had flying.
  8. Is that something that can/will be restored or do you think it'll stay in that condition?
  9. I don't know much about Hillsboro Village but I have been to several Ruby Slippers along the Gulf Coast plus the Ruby Sunshine in Franklin and they are top notch. Great food and incredible staff (although they were very young at the Franklin location). They have a great story as well regarding the name. The first Ruby Slipper opened up after Hurricane Katrina and the name is a Wizard of Oz nod to being swept away and returning home. Unfortunately, they ended up being sued by Disney or whoever and had to change the name of all future restaurants to Ruby Sunshine. The locations along the Coast still operate under the Ruby Slipper name. If this place is held to the standards of their other restaurants then it will be a good addition to the Village.
  10. The thing with Murfreesboro is that I wonder if downtown will be the place to go "tall" in the future...or if it will be somewhere out around the Avenue area...and hospital? For office, I think 24/Medical Center Pkwy is the best chance. But I think downtown may be an option for high(er) rise residential for people that may want to be in an urban setting but don't want to live in Davidon Co.
  11. I don't mind the height limits in Franklin/Cool Springs. What I do wish, is that the city would push for a more urban developments along the I-65 corridor. Kind of like Berry Farms but multiple contiguous developments. It's a little late for Cool Springs but the area from Goose Creek down to 840 is ripe for higher density urban development. I am surprised that there hasn't been taller projects in downtown Murfreesboro. I think a couple 10-15 brick residential buildings would look nice with the one "tall" building they already have down there.
  12. From UP Rooftop Lounge in the Gulch courtesy of the EarthCam website.
  13. Here's some photos from a couple of walks I took last week in America's Finest City.
  14. Chattanooga has a very impressive downtown.
  15. Dang, I have many fond memories at that place. I loved their open mic nights and had many a first date there. I always loved going there before and after shows at Exit/Inn and after Vandy ballgames.
  16. Hope everyone is staying safe. Out here in California, just about the only thing we can do is go to grocery stores and restaurants that offer take out only. All parks, trails, beaches, and ocean is closed in San Diego County. The mayor was hopeful that citizens would be responsible and adhere to "shelter in place" policies but that wasn't the case. There's now cops sitting in the parking lots of many parks and some on ATV's driving up and down the beaches. We pretty much have no choice here but to stay home or go on a walk. I, like several others, are (hopefully) temporarily out of work due to this pandemic, and it's excruciating sitting at home all day. But the sooner everyone gets on the same page in regards to "shelter in place" or "safer at home" or whatever it's being called across the country the sooner we'll be able to get out and get back to our normal lives.
  17. Franklin is a little too spread out for scooters IMHO. Cool Springs is not pedestrian/scooter friendly and downtown is compact enough where scooters aren't really necessary. Even if they had voted yes I don't see scooters being viable or successful anywhere in Williamson County. I can see scooters working in Murfreesboro between downtown and MTSU.
  18. I've taken the train numerous times to Anaheim and LA from San Diego and it's actually pretty fun. There's no traffic and there is a BAR CAR that is very convenient. I'd say the trip to Union Station in LA is about 3 hours whereas driving take 2-3 hours depending on the time of day. There's around 12 stops but each stop is 5-10 minutes MAX, most are less if there is no on waiting at the station. I have no clue why the trip will take 6 1/2 hours though. Possibly due to several sharp curves in the tracks around Chattanooga and North Georgia.
  19. Just curious, is there a museum pass or something similar you can buy that gets you in to the smaller independent museums? I've always found it hard to believe that museums dedicated to specific people make enough money to cover operating expenses.
  20. "Authentic" or not Hattie B's is delicious, and so is Prince's. I'm not sure why it matters how old or new the restaurant is as long as the food and service are good.
