  1. I don’t disagree with your assessment, but I do think there is a time and place for local governments to help lure entities that can help the local community in one way or another. Were you ok with giving Bridgestone, Amazon and the Nashville Predators big tax breaks to have them here? I’m not sure that a MLB team will help the city like some of these entities, but it’s worthy of consideration I think. I think the Preds and Titans are worth everything they got, just not sure about baseball
  2. I really respect what the Governor is saying there. I think the MLB needs to hear us/feel us wanting them here. I do wander a bit too if he wouldn’t be opposed to helping with $$ to lure them here.
  3. Ah I thought that was new news. I would much prefer doing a major renovation of the fairgrounds Track and running the race there. Too much history and closeness to downtown
  4. Sports talk radio has announced that Nashville will be getting a cup race for NASCAR. It’s a four year deal but they say that the major race is here for the long haul. They’re going to race it at the track right outside of town. Not a nascar fan but glad to see we are back in the major leagues in terms of car racing.
  5. While I was running yesterday I stopped and talked to a corporate looking guy on-site. He confirmed that all the brands on the white board are coming. He also said there are a couple other brands that have signed on but that he couldn’t say anything. He said we would be excited about the announcement. So glad that this development will have some good retail.
  6. And it’s not like the tourists are just people from the mid south. The hometowns of MANY of our tourists would shock some people. Especially people that don’t go down there much.
  7. Is that the proposed retirement home? If so my girlfriend will be thrilled. In the hope gardens we were hoping for something more lively there
  8. I have a business in Opry Mills and Simon Property is charging full rent for time closed, and sales since opening back up have sucked big time!
  9. Does anyone think that part of the spike is due to a higher rate of testing? I’m really just asking because I hear people saying. I don’t really follow the numbers, but I’m getting more interested as this pandemic continues.
  10. I completely agree Smeags. It’s frustrating how much information was out there saying that masks didn’t really make a difference. Like everyone else I just want this pandemic to be over, and business to get back to normal. FYI I have a pug named Smeagol. Thought you might appreciate
  11. I went to one of the protests as well and observed the same thing. However with that many people so close to each other in this heat, a cloth mask is arguably not sufficient enough to protect each other from the virus. I’m sorry but I don’t approve of either activity at this point in time.
  12. That looks incredible! I like the boldness, which is something this city has lacked when it comes to our buildings. Then again, there are a number of developments that have a gorgeous first rendering
  13. Maybe they sneak in a smaller toys r us as well. I’m think I heard that the brand is making a comeback with a total redesign.
  14. I just don’t understand the logic here. Tony wants to create the coolest building in the state of TN AND create a brand new beautiful pocket park even closer to this hotel. Why not back that plan? We would be getting a new pocket park on a developer’s dime and not the city’s
  15. When I was running on the gulch greenway yesterday I noticed some guys testing ground on the big patch of grass directly behind the Grainger building on Charlotte. There’s a lot of property back there! Anyone have any clue what the owners are looking to do?
  16. Tesla has shown interest in building their truck here. I’d kill for the hq!!
  17. I feel like this group has made a smart move partnering with the negro league people. I agree the name is pretty boring, but this group could be a secret ingredient we have to put us over other cities for a new franchise or relocation. Kind of in the same way 5th and broad partnered with the African American music museum in getting that development pushed through.
  18. I’m in the restaurant business and I’m putting out 50 percent of my seating in all my small town stores, but I’m not in my Davidson county stores. I am under the impression that Nashville restaurants will get the green light once certain metrics are met and phase 1 of reopening starts. Although phase 1 highly restricts store capacities and social distancing. I highly recommend you not open your dine in too early. You could get fined and potentially receive negative media on the business. Good luck!
  19. For anyone that didn’t realize this, I sure didn’t, Ian mentioned in his letter to fans that the new stadium will be the biggest soccer specific stadium in the US. That’s incredible to hear, and it almost doesn’t seem right. If true we should all be proud!!
  20. There is an angle where 440 runs into I40 that I think is the best around. Too bad someone can’t just park the car on that part of 440 because that angle has a pretty consistent line of buildings.
  21. Atlanta is easily one of the top 2 or 3 most pathetic sport fan bases in America. It’s laughable for any sports fan from Atlanta to brag about fan support. Especially considering their high population.
