  1. I didn't even know about Charlotte Independence till today, in this thread.
  2. /\ Option B takes the Silver Line through Matthews as a streetcar line and whats the point of that? To be honest, I prefer Route A due to the fact of faster travel time and the least amount of property impact. But as others have said, C would probably be the best option for TOD and fast travel time.
  3. Lufthansa is cutting First Class on Munich-CLT-Munich effective December 1, due to the fact Lufthansa is cutting First on all Munich-based A330s. Lufthansa's new Business is lackluster, with 2-2-2 configuration, whilst AA's config' is 1-2-1 with all-aisle access on all flights to Europe, as all flights to Europe are on our A330s.
  4. Well, when you are a flight attendant, who has to pack for a 3 day trip to Europe and work all through out the night, and does that 2/3 times a week, it would get hideous to walk 1/2 mile.
  5. I would not ride light rail if I had to walk 1/2 mile, especially with all the bags I have to drag.
  6. Latest poll: Cooper gains lead over McCrory in NC governor's race
  7. How the hell did we go from LGBT Rights to Sharia law?!!!! I'm sorry caterpillar2 you are just being rude and disrespectful now.
  8. What are the Beazer plans? Is there ever a chance Charlotte Pipe and Foundry will ever be redeveloped?
  9. http://www.ncdrought.org Seeing as there seems to be little rainfall, are we heading back into drought?
  10. Crescent Stonewall has a great website for the project with a good video about Crescent: http://www.crescentstonewallstation.com
  11. I don't think Raleigh is going to play ball with Charlotte. Maybe Charlotte can 'team-up' with Chapel Hill to try and lobby Raleigh to change the funding law?
  12. /\ There's a plan to add a station at Atherton but no timing or funding is known.
  13. Can we please get this topic back to the Streetcar? Thats all I'm interested in.
  14. But lets by real, SouthEnd has been going bye bye for a couple of years now.
  15. http://charmeck.org/city/charlotte/Airport/News/Pages/CLTRanksFifthBusiestAirportintheNationandSixthintheWorld.aspx CLT is the 6th busiest airport in the world!
  16. Well, the benefit of having an existing major company anchor a new tower is that they will definitely anchor a lot more space than a new company, IIRC Mercedes only created 800 jobs and uses something along the lines of 100,000 square feet in Atlanta, that would barely dent Tryon Place. So let me get this clear, the tenant is Duke Energy and it is going to be taller than 36 floors or 600ft?
  17. I would agree with you 100%. I've heard about the Tryon Place rumor as well. Whilst it is sad to see those developments paused, it certainly helps the developers of 300ST, TP, Westin Tower etc. The Observer site would going to be a master plan, no? So it was unlikely to really start going before this boom busts, which I expect to be within the next 12-18 months. The developers may follow the path of Red Ventures, switching to Roy Cooper for Governor, to try and less the impact of HB2. It was under Perdue that we economic incentives that got major companies to NC, with the exception of Sealed Air.
  18. NoDa is most likely going to end up like South End with developers buying up all the little shops and things that make the area cool and interesting, then demolishing it all and putting a f*****g huge Charlotte-beige apartment block.
  19. Please don't have a go at me, I'm a new football fan. So I was reading about BoA Stadium and all the upgrades that the City is paying for, and then I started to read up about all the new and under-construction stadiums, that have high-tech equipment and are architecturally stunning like US Bank Stadium. And this got me thinking, that as BoA is 20 years old and does not have a retractable roof, why doesn't Charlotte and the Panthers did a new stadium? I know its expensive, but why hasn't there been a proposal to rebuild BoA instead of spending a ton of money for an ageing stadium. I had two thoughts about this, 1) The Panthers move to a temporary stadium for one season whilst a new stadium is built or 2) Build a new stadium in Uptown, between Tryon + the Blue Line and 7th St + 9th St.
  20. How is extending light rail to a different county more logically than extending it to a major population center and the nations' 7th largest airport inside our own county?
